Wildlife corridors a Lifeline for Tiger
0:04
conservation tiger populations have been
0:06
brindling for decades pushed to the
0:09
brink by habitat loss coaching and human
0:13
Wildlife
0:15
conflict but there's Hope on the horizon
0:19
and it comes in the form of wildlife
0:22
corridors these vital pathways are
0:25
breathing new life into tiger
0:27
conservation efforts offering a Lifeline
0:30
for these magnificent big
0:33
cats Wildlife corridors are stretches of
0:36
habitat that connect larger areas of
0:38
suitable
0:40
environments they act as Bridges
0:43
allowing animals to move safely between
0:45
fragmented
0:47
landscapes for Tigers these corridors
0:50
are nothing short of
0:51
essential Tigers require vast
0:54
territories to thrive with males needing
0:57
up to 100 square kilm
1:00
as human development encroaches on their
1:03
habitats Tigers find themselves isolated
1:06
in small pockets of
1:08
forest this isolation leads to
1:11
inbreeding reduced genetic diversity and
1:15
increased vulnerability to local
1:18
extinctions Wildlife corridors address
1:21
these issues by providing tigers with
1:23
safe passage between protected
1:26
areas they allow Tigers to disperse find
1:30
new territories and maintain genetic
1:32
diversity by breeding with tigers from
1:35
other
1:37
populations this movement is crucial for
1:40
maintaining healthy resilient tiger
1:44
populations these corridors also help
1:46
reduce human tiger
1:49
Conflict by providing alternative routs
1:52
for Tigers to travel they decrease the
1:54
likelihood of tigers wandering into
1:56
human settlements in search of food or M
2:01
this benefits both tigers and local
2:04
communities fostering a more harmonious
2:07
coexistence implementing Wildlife
2:10
corridors for Tigers is no small
2:13
feat it requires careful planning
2:16
cooperation between different regions
2:18
and countries and often the restoration
2:22
of degraded
2:23
habitats corridors must be wide enough
2:26
to make Tigers feel secure and provide
2:29
sufficient cover and
2:31
prey one successful example of a tiger
2:34
Corridor is the terai ark landscape
2:37
spanning Nepal and
2:39
India this initiative has connected 11
2:42
protected areas allowing Tigers to move
2:46
between Nepal's chitwan National Park
2:48
and India's V Miki tiger
2:51
reserve the results have been promising
2:54
with tiger numbers in Nepal nearly
2:56
doubling between 2009 and 2018
3:01
in Russia's Far East the land of the
3:03
leopard National Park serves as a
3:05
crucial Corridor for Amur Tigers
3:08
connecting their habitats in Russia with
3:11
those in
3:12
China this transboundary cooperation has
3:16
been vital for the recovery of this
3:18
subspecies the kha pench corridor in
3:21
central India is another success story
3:25
it links two major tiger reserves
3:28
maintaining Gene between these
3:31
populations camera trap Studies have
3:34
confirmed regular tiger movement through
3:36
this Corridor under scory its
3:39
importance Wildlife corridors are not
3:42
without
3:43
challenges they often pass through areas
3:46
with human activity requiring careful
3:49
management to minimize
3:51
conflicts additionally maintaining the
3:54
Integrity of these corridors in the face
3:56
of development pressures requires
3:59
ongoing commitment and
4:01
resources despite these challenges the
4:04
benefits of wildlife corridors for TIG
4:07
populations of peer they provide the
4:10
connectivity essential for genetic
4:12
diversity allow for natural dispersal
4:15
and help mitigate human tiger
4:18
conflict as we continue our efforts to
4:20
save these iconic Predators Wildlife
4:23
Corridor stand out as a critical tool in
4:26
ensuring tigers not only survive but
4:29
thrive in the
4:30
wild the success of wildlife corridors
4:33
in Tiger conservation serves as a
4:36
powerful reminder of the importance of
4:38
landscape level approaches to Wildlife
4:42
protection by Thinking Beyond the
4:44
boundaries of protected areas and
4:46
creating connections across vast
4:48
Landscapes we can give tigers the space
4:51
they need to roam hunt and
4:54
breed in doing so we're not just saving
4:57
individual Tigers but ensuring in the
5:00
long-term viability of entire
5:02
populations preserving these magnificent
5:05
creatures for generations to come
