Solve Quadratic Equations Using Factoring and the Quadratic Formulas
Oct 8, 2022
This video is about solving quadratic equations using the method of factoring and also the quadratic formulas. Three examples are presented:
Example 1 - the equation (x-1)(x+8) = 0 is in a factored form already and therefore solved in a few steps.
Example 2 - the equation x(x - 1) = 1 is expanded and because it cannot be factored, is solved using the quadratic formulas that are reviewed in the video.
Example 3: the equation 2x^2 + 6 x = 8 is first simplified by dividing all terms by 2 since all coefficients and the constant even numbers, written in standard form, factored and then solved.
