Feeding Frenzy - Wild birds attack bark butter
Feb 22, 2024
On the coldest day of the winter, wild birds are loving the bark butter - a mixture of peanut butter, lard, flour, and corn meal. Two species of wild birds are coming to the yard in droves; Myrtle Warblers are outnumbering the Pine Warblers.
Our recipe for bark butter is one cup each of peanut butter and lard, then 4 cups of flour and one cup of corn meal. Heating the pb and lard in the microwave for 44 seconds helps when you go to mix it all together. Use a big bowl!
