Hey, I'm Jocelyn and this is my friend Sandra and today we are going to make for you a slow
0:07
gin ricky, not to be confused with a slow gin fizz. I'm going to let you just go ahead and start making this drink because you know what, it's
0:15
cocktail Friday. I need one. Great, let's do it. Also, not to be confused with a gin fizz
0:22
There are other gin fizzes which use regular gin and not slow gin
0:26
Slow gin is a specific thing. It's very different. Yeah, is a kind of fruit. And so this is made from slow fruits. It's very, very British. So much more popular in the UK than in the States
0:42
It's kind of old fashioned. Like I was thinking just like a little old fashioned is it. Okay. So I was going to say that. And when I was bartending, I used to have this sweet little old lady who ordered slow gin fizzes
0:54
and I was like, wow, okay, we're finally gonna open that bottle of slow gin, I remember, and she
1:01
really liked mine so she would come back all the time and get her slow gin first for me so it took her years to get through that bottle of slow gin behind the bar But it was kind of cool if somebody actually used it
1:15
So we just thought this would be a fun one to interview with you to me because it's just not
1:21
It's something different. And, you know, if you're not, if you don't think you're going to drink a whole lot of slow gin and whatever
1:28
we often will tell you, go buy a couple airline bottles. And you'd be surprised at the checkout at your local liquor store how many funky different things are in airline bottles
1:39
So then you just get those little tiny, what are they, ounce and a quarter, ounce and a half
1:44
And it's a perfect way to try something new without breaking the bag
1:47
Decide whether you like it before you invest in a large bottle or something
1:52
Absolutely. You see, you saw me take a half of lime and juice it
1:58
So I have all of that juice here. filled my glass with ice
2:02
and I'm going to take two ounces of slow gin slow gin
2:07
does anyone else ever think slow ride I will now I should not sing anywhere where other people can hear it But yeah whenever I made things with slojin it is pretty I never had slo the fruit
2:25
I think next time I go to England, I'm going to have to do that. I think I will
2:29
So it's just three ingredients and we're going to top it with some club soda
2:35
Therein lies the name Fizz. Leave a little bit of space there at the top
2:42
Are you looking at Fizz? Yeah, I have a... Yeah. Is this a Fizz or a Ricky
2:46
It is not a Fizz, it's a Ricky. But you do need some Fizz
2:50
Okay. Sorry. Straight up. Sometimes it's easier to actually push the ice down
3:00
And then it pushes. It pops back up. Absolutely. Absolutely. So pretty
3:05
Take this wedge of lime and squeeze that in too if you want
3:10
I don't think you need to really squeeze it since it's already got so much lime to use
3:15
If that's a regular gin, I'd be squeezing the heck out of that. But because it slow gin I don have to squeeze the heck out of it I actually really prefer slow gin to regular old gin Cheers
3:29
It's really good. It is like, I don't know how to describe the slow gin
3:38
It almost is, it's almost like something from my childhood that I don't know what
3:42
It's not like Kool-Aid or anything like that. It's not that sweet. It's like cranberry-esque
3:47
Yes. But not quite. It almost leans toward a cherry lime, but it's not as sweet and cherry as that
3:53
Right. It's a little more tart, like if you had a really tart one. But anyway, this is a fun drink
3:58
It's really tasty, and it's so easy to make. You're just dumping a couple things in there
4:03
And if you want to juice limes, like, ahead of time and just pour, when you juice half a lime
4:09
it usually comes out to about half, maybe three-quarters if you've got a really juicy lime
4:14
So you can easily make a bunch of these. So if you just have lime juice sitting around, pop them open and treat your friends to something new and different
4:25
So, cheers. We'll see you next Friday. Bye
