Hey, I'm Jocelyn, and this is Sandra, and it is Cocktail Friday, and we're going to make for you a traditional Italian drink, and it is originally from Milan, or Milano, and normally it is made with Campari, not Aperol, but I spend a lot of time in the Veneto region near, like, the Venice side, and so Aperol is kind of king there, and I have piles of it
0:27
so rather than buying a bottle of Campari that I'm only going to use for one drink
0:33
I'm just going to go ahead we're going to do it with Aperol um this is another great time where
0:38
you can buy one of those little airplane bottles we've talked about that right so get like a little
0:42
bottle I couldn't find a tiny bottle at the liquor store today so I'm just going with one
0:47
of my backups of Aperol and they taste very similar they do so um both Aperol and Campari
0:53
are a bitter orange liqueur. I think Aperol is a little smoother and not quite as they both bitter but this is a little less bitter so if that helps at all um I feel like you can go either way um don let me in Italian squash this
1:12
and tell me they'll be they'll be like no this is not the way it is but um for today we're gonna
1:18
we're gonna just kind of goof and we'll put we'll put the traditional recipe on the list we will
1:24
okay so how much gin are we doing just doing one this is super easy to remember it's
1:30
one ounce of each one one one one one it's thirds that's good stuff right there so
1:35
gin aperol or campari really it should be campari but we're gonna parry yeah this is actually
1:43
campari dressed up for a holiday like this is campari dressed up as aperol that's what we're
1:49
pretend today Yeah Sure Okay See Grazie And sweet vermouth is our final ingredient You do want sweet vermouth do not substitute dry I think every time we use either sweet or dry vermouth in a video we like hey don sub these things because they really not energy They are not equitable No not a bit I can smell the aromas I can smell it too Right here we go It a little orange Way more strong Yeah it gonna be good
2:20
I think I would be so strong, right? Look at that beautiful color
2:31
It's like an apricot-y color, isn't it? It's lovely. And then we're going to just drop it
2:36
Just orange. Okay. And you're not it? You're just going to drop it
2:41
You can rim it. If you want. You can totally rim this. But there's so much orange flavor in this aprile, it's probably not terribly necessary
2:49
Yeah, you can twist it a little bit. Yeah, this is a really small piece of orange. That's okay. It's fine. Lovely drink, isn't it? God, that color is just beautiful
3:01
Mmm I spent a lot of time in Italy The minute I have a Negroni I am sitting on a piazza with my friends
3:16
There's like Nando and Elena and, you know, Naina and Dennis. There's like all of my friends and they're all just sitting there and we're all drinking
3:26
and our children are running around playing, playing Cacio, which is soccer, you know
3:31
in the middle of Piazza, that's, that's, that's all happening in this glass, right? I mean
3:37
makes me happy. Oh yeah. You should make this, you should have this tiny little bit of Italy
3:45
in your cup this weekend. Don't you think? Absolutely. I think so. So join us next Friday
3:52
