Hey, I'm Jocelyn and this is my friend Sandra and we are back with another Friday cocktail for you
0:06
And today, Sandra is going to make a French 75. This is, I think, maybe one of your absolute favorites
0:13
It might be my absolute favorite. I've loved this one for years. And I'm a little hesitant because gin
0:20
Oh, I'm so glad you brought up gin because I have people tell me this all the time about poor gin
0:25
They don't like it because it tastes like Christmas, essentially. I'm good with that
0:31
It was a little accident that happened around the time I was 22 with too many of the gins
0:37
Because I like gin so much. So it's a whole other story. That's a whole other story
0:41
Let's make a cocktail that maybe I like. Maybe we will. And what I want to say about gin is that even if you think you don't like it, you've tried it
0:49
You think it's not your thing. The juniper maybe is a little much for some people because it really does taste like an evergreen treat
0:56
Yes But if you would you add some citrus to it and magic happens in the glass I promise So what we going to do is we are going to start with some ice and our shaker This one is shaken
1:16
What do you tell me what you need? What are we doing? I need you to step back. That's what I need
1:22
We need gin. We need gin. So I need two ounces of gin for this healthy drink
1:32
Can this go into a martini glass? We have a classic cocktail glass
1:36
Classic cocktail glass, which also, that one serves really well for a champagne coupe
1:41
Right. Or martini glass. Martini, all kinds of cocktails go appropriately into that glass
1:46
You could put this one in a flute, too. And I often do drink them in a flute. I just like this glass, so that's what I'm going to use
1:52
We've talked about this before. It's the workhorse of all the glasses. Yes. Yes, absolutely. So lemon
1:59
I told you we're gonna add some citrus magic So we're just put about a half ounce
2:08
And then a little bit of simple syrup to sweeten it just ever so You know I just going to put actually let just use a teaspoon A teaspoon Okay
2:18
So really just a squidge of simple. Yeah, I can't imagine sugar with gin like that. Wow
2:27
It's surprising to me. Get ready to get ready. I'm getting ready
2:32
Let's strain this loveliness into our glass
2:44
But wait, there's more. This is such a luxurious cocktail to me
2:50
So we're going to top this with bubbles. Seems kind of decadent. It is so decadent
2:56
And then we're going to put our lemon twist. A word about your garnish
3:02
Make sure that you notice we always have them at the ready. You don't want to be letting your cocktail wilt while you're getting your garnish ready
3:11
So have it ready to go before you even start mixing. We're just going to drop that in there
3:15
So that dropped in We not the glass We not going to rim We just going to drop that in so that it continue to help um let some lemon flow into that drink and i also want to say don let the it
3:28
such a lovely ladylike drink um it's called a french 75 after a french cannon because they're
3:35
really strong so there is a reason i'm like i'm really excited about this i wanted to taste this
3:42
for a minute. So here we go. It's pretty good. The lemon is definitely taking down that juniper
3:55
sort of flavor and it's, yeah, hang on one more time. It's pretty good. Like as far as gin goes
4:06
meaning I don't love gin, this is pretty good. I could drink one of those and it would be just
4:12
fine. You're wrong. That's fantastic. So, um, ladies and gents, this is a French 75 and, um
4:21
we will be back next Friday. We hope you will join us for another cocktail. Cheers. See you
