This is my biggest fish today
0:04
He's going back. Hey, I'm Jocelyn and I'm here in Idaho and this is the Henry's Fork of the Snake River
0:16
And I went fly fishing today with Caleb and we had an absolutely amazing time
0:22
And so I wanted to give you just a few quick tips on what to look for when you're going to go fly fishing
0:28
Maybe for like, you know, novice people. If you're a seasoned person, you already know all this, so you don't need to worry about it
0:35
But the first thing I'm going to tell you is to find a really good guide
0:39
Find somebody who's really reputable. And, you know, they've been doing this for a long time
0:44
They really know what they're doing. And they're teaching you skills. They're not just taking you out to fish
0:50
It's not just sticking you in the water and saying, hey, throw the thing. they teaching you the vocabulary and explaining how to do things and what to do when That the sign of a good guide The other thing you need to do is definitely dress in layers I got several layers on right now and there have been moments
1:09
when I was warm and I could you know pull my jacket off and then you know if it's a little
1:14
chilly like it's going to be chilly in the morning then you're probably going to want to have a
1:18
couple layers on for sure then and you may or may not wear waders. I didn't have to wear waders
1:24
today because we were in the boat the whole time and my guide got out and you know she was moving
1:29
the boat through different parts of the rapids and things like that whatever and so we didn't
1:34
have to wear waders. Waders would have been nice a couple of times when the sun went behind the
1:39
clouds and we got kind of chilly but I didn't have to do that. So definitely dress in layers
1:44
Also bring some sunglasses and a hat because it can get chilly and the hat's kind of nice
1:49
But there's also a lot of sun reflecting off the water, and so having sunglasses is really helpful
1:55
The other thing you absolutely have to bring is your patience. Fly fishing is not for the faint of heart This is something that you gonna it gonna take time We caught a ton of fish today I think Caleb actually netted like seven and I think I netted like five or six
2:11
And it was great. It was really fun, but that's a really good day You may not have those days you may only catch one or two
2:17
You may only hook a few and not net any so bring your patience. It's also
2:22
This is it's like a learned skill and it's not something that it always comes naturally so bring your patience for yourself too not just for the fish
2:32
so the other thing you absolutely have to have no matter where you're fishing is you've got to have
2:38
a license so your guide will take you to buy a license sometimes it's you know at a tackle shop
2:45
sometimes it's gas station whatever you just hop in and like ours were 15 today so there's that
2:52
Just go in, you get the license, you give them your ID, and then you'll take it, that's it, you're done
2:58
It's easy as pie. So along with the patience, you also need to have an open mindset because this is a whole new skill set So like I said be patient with yourself Don get frustrated Be open about what you doing Also I want to say that
3:13
I got a really great guide. Nicole was amazing. She was really great with Caleb. She was a lot of fun
3:18
She brought her dog along with us, which we absolutely love. And we went with Big Sky Anglers
3:24
they're out of West Yellowstone Montana and Big Sky was great they were really very informed they
3:31
gave us a lot of information beforehand they asked pertinent questions and they were ready
3:36
for whatever we you know asked that is another just really good sign of a good guide and a good
3:43
company is that they're telling you all this stuff and they're very honest and upfront about all the
3:48
stuff so if you happen to be in this area and you want to fly fish in Idaho or Montana
3:54
near Yellowstone. Big Sky Anglers is kind of the place to be. We had a great time with them. So
4:01
y'all have a wonderful time while you go fly fishing wherever it may be. See you later
