Hey, I'm Jocelyn and today's video are four things that you can do to help
0:05
tourism in your local area. As we know, this year everybody sort of suffered and
0:11
as travelers we really want to encourage people to fix that in little ways if
0:16
we're able to. So the first way we can do that is to go. So go to your local
0:21
museums, these beautiful historic homes like the Vroman Mansion here in Bloomington that we're visiting. Go to your local restaurants and you know there are zoos and all
0:31
sorts of things around your neighborhood, in your town, and in your region. You can go and see those
0:37
and support them by you know paying the admission or you know whatever, but going there and being
0:43
part of it and supporting them with your time and your money. So go visit those historic homes like
0:50
this the Broman in Bloomington, Illinois, which we really love to see. Go visit, you know, the
0:55
museums and all of your local zoos and things like that and do those things and keep social
1:02
distancing in mind. I've got my mask right here and, you know, right now because there's so few
1:09
people actually visiting, social distancing is actually pretty easy to do in most of those places
1:14
So, if you can go and support them and social distance at the same time, do it
1:20
And while you're at it, grab something. That's our number two. Grab something in the gift shop because those small purchases make a big difference for all of those organizations So as we have traveled and social distance around the country this year we been buying Christmas gifts and birthday gifts and
1:37
things at all the little gift shops. So we're supporting local businesses wherever we are
1:42
And if you're able to do it, it's a great way to support those small things and help this tourism
1:49
economy, kind of hold on. My third thing is to give. If you are able to donate, please do it
1:57
There are so many great organizations out there. I have worked in nonprofit for years for children's
2:03
museums and historic museums, and you know what? Every dollar counts, and when you are able to do
2:09
that, it makes a huge difference to their operating budget. Sometimes you might want to give to a
2:15
specific part of what they need. But if you can give just to their operating budget, it does so
2:20
much for those small organizations. So my last thing is to get out. Get out of your house. We've
2:27
all been crammed in there for way too long. Do what we're doing. We've gotten out and we're staying
2:32
at the Vroman Mansion and we're really enjoying ourselves and it's just such a beautiful place
2:38
right now during the holidays. But if you can get out, give yourself a little bit of peace
2:43
but also support a local business. That's a huge thing. So I hope that you guys can kind of take into consideration these four things
2:51
and be able to support some of those tourist-related operations around your neighborhood and your town
2:58
And thanks for watching. Merry Christmas
