JETBLUE - a great domestic airline! My review

Hello and welcome to another trip report and welcome to Boston's Logan International Airport

here in Massachusetts. Today I'm going to be flying JetBlue down the East Coast to Washington

National Airport. Flight time of just over one hour. Really looking forward to it. I have flown

JetBlue once before and that was in their mint business class which was a fantastic trip

wonderful value for money between Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles, California. The link to that can

be found in the description below. But today we're going to be flying down the back of the bus

in economy. Let's go check it out. JetBlue uses Terminal C at Boston's Logan Airport. It's shared

with AirLinks and TAP Portugal, and there's not too much to say about it. It's a perfectly

acceptable place to wait an hour or two for your flight. As it's becoming almost standard amongst

airlines now, check-in is done manually via kiosks. There's even a bag drop facility where

you print your own bag tag, stick it on your bag and drop it onto a baggage belt where it's taken

to the aircraft. Something you see a lot of in North America at large airports are small airlines

with very small planes. This is Cape Air. From Boston, they use these Cessna 402 aircraft to

serve a range of provincial destinations across the Northeast. Today, of course, I'm flying JetBlue

They're not one of the big three carriers in the United States, but they do have a very loyal core following of customers

as many of you know i hold a priority pass so while today's ticket doesn't get me into any sort

of lounge my priority pass does this lounge is imaginatively called the lounge and it's in terminal

C. Personally, I think my priority pass is one of the most important pieces of my travel gear

As you've gathered, I travel a lot and it's always really reassuring to be able to get

into somewhere where you can have something to eat and somewhere guaranteed to charge your phone

This is one of JetBlue's Brazilian Umbrella 190 aircraft. I love these regional jets. They're laid out in a 2-2 configuration in economy and have wonderfully

large square windows. That's a real bonus. One thing you do have to be careful of is on some

airlines the seats do not line up with the windows. Today's seat is 24A, a standard economy seat

right at the back of the aircraft. I've yet to come across an Ombre A 190 with poor legroom

As you can see, the legroom in this standard economy seat is more than adequate for the short hop down to Washington

It is never allowed on any JetBlue flight. Tampering with, disabling or destroying smoke detectors in aircraft bathrooms is a federal offense

It's a beautiful day for flying and as we head south out of Boston and towards Washington

let's take a look at today's route. It's 399 miles between Boston and Washington

Oregon Airport. It'll take us about an hour and 15 minutes in the air and we'll be flying

at 31 feet One of the things I really loved about this flight is that despite the fact that I was flying in basic economy I still got a free snack and drink on board For a short flight I thought the choice was really good and if you wanted something a bit more it was available for a reasonable price

JetBlue now have a really extensive route map

and recently they've expanded into South America I'm really interested to see how that venture goes for them

I'll be flying to South America next year one area that american carriers definitely exceed european ones is in onboard connectivity

jetblue's fly-fi is the best priced of any american carrier it's completely free on domestic flights

you don't even need to sign up and give them your details i think this is absolutely superb by jetblue

while the wi-fi speed wasn't as good as the paid for options on alaska or united

it was certainly more than acceptable considering it's free. Onboard entertainment is also free

although on these Umbrella 190s the seatback screens are a little bit dated

I always say that the best in-flight entertainment is looking out of the window especially when you've got views like this

on short flights when i sit at the back of the aircraft i'm always a little bit anxious that i

might not get served in the time available the flight attendants on this flight had about 45

minutes of useful time despite this the flight attendants did manage to get to me to give you

my beverage and snack in ample time before landing. One of the things I really love about

landing at Washington National Airport is the river visual approach. If you're lucky and the

winds are blowing just right, you'll approach the airport from the north to land on runway 19

The approach to this runway involves basically following the Potomac River all the way down

skirting the edge of Washington DC's city centre. And see, I can pronounce some American names correctly

I think. So

this flight cost me £79 one way. That's US$100. That is a blue plus fare and that includes a

check bag. On this showing, it's easy to see exactly why JetBlue are so popular among so

many Americans, particularly on the East Coast. There is another way of getting between Boston

and Washington, and that is by Amtrak. I'll be taking their high-speed train, the Amtrak

Acela, in first class, and I'm sure you'll be interested to know exactly what I thought of that

in terms of value. After that, there's just one more video in this round-the-world series
