Loren "Squirrel" Carl, 74, husband of Kelly Hamilton Carl, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025. A native of Versailles, he was born on August 4, 1950 to the late Parker and Ila Bartlett Carl. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force, having served in Vietnam, a Sheriff for Woodford County, US Marshall for the Eastern District of KY, and servant of the community at the Food Pantry. "Squirrel" will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, handing out nicknames to everyone he met, dedication to public service, volunteering in his community, and unwavering love of his family. He spent his best days on the water or on a ballfield and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Whether he was hollering from the dugout while coaching his grandsons, chatting everyone up at the local gas stations, or waving at everyone in town while riding along with his sidekick Archie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Hope Shelters (T.J.), Versailles, and Mandy Howard (Matt), Versailles; his sister, Decima Osborne, Versailles; and his grandchildren, Wyatt Edward, Walker James, Westin Carl, Carter Guillaume, and Ellie Guillaume. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Biggerstaff. Loren was a faithful member of Southside Christian Church. Memorial Service will be held at 6:00pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Versailles United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hupp officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 6:00pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Versailles United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodford County Food Pantry.
