So, I've been talking about OLED technology for TVs for a while
0:08
I've looked at all of them from top to bottom. Do this as elegant as possible
0:16
Including the latest 88 inch part of the signature lineup featured it here on YouTube
0:23
I'm just a big fan of OLED. I like what it does to images. I like the idea of these super black areas on the display, especially when watching cinema content, when watching a dramatic scene
0:37
There's tremendous amount of contrast, deep black, saturated, vivid colors. Ever since switching over to OLED, I've been spoiled, I've been ruined
0:51
Every time I'm looking at a TV that doesn't feature that technology, I feel like I'm missing something
0:55
particularly like I said if I'm watching some high-profile film a lot of attention
1:01
to detail has been put into that image and then I'm watching it on some sort of
1:05
subpar display it's a bit of a letdown when you've been spoiled with OLED tech
1:11
for years. Wow, that is blazing bright. Now this is in the vivid picture setting, which of course
1:32
enhances the OLED effect. It enhances the saturation and contrast and things like
1:39
and overall brightness of the display, but we're in a completely dark space right now
1:45
and this thing is illuminating this entire section in front of me
1:49
Maybe that's an ocean. Either way, this is a tremendous image. This is my first glimpse into OLED Generation 2
1:58
Can we turn the lights on now? There's also some new features that have been packed in here
2:03
All-new processor for all that upscaling and smart behavior that goes on when it's looking at an image
2:11
and potentially having to upscale it, potentially having to brighten certain sections
2:16
of the frame that you're looking at. It supports these next generation game consoles by allowing for 4K up to 120 frames and anybody investing in a next generation console kind of needs to have a next generation tv to truly take
2:31
advantage of it so 77 inches i mean for a lot of people that is tremendous scale a lot of this will
2:38
depend on your room size lg really cares about turning these displays into gaming focused large
2:45
scale monitors and in order to do that they're lowering the input lag significantly and on this
2:52
generation they're going to have the game mode actually yze the type of game that you're
2:57
playing and adjust certain elements of the tv's behavior for the purpose of improving the gameplay
3:02
in your game whether it happens to be a first person shooter a sports game etc now the other
3:09
thing i should mention since this is part of the gallery lineup they have this impossibly slim
3:14
design. I mean, you can't imagine it being much slimmer. Now we've also got an all new remote here
3:20
which apparently they've considered and worked on improved the ergonomics. So you have a
3:25
more substantial grip there. Of course, we've also got our dedicated keys for Netflix. They've added
3:30
Disney plus to the mix and there's an NFC logo right here. That's because tap your phone against
3:37
this remote and then cast content from your device straight to the display without any extra
3:44
hardware so this can interact directly with your smartphone there's a wheel in the middle here
3:48
which helps you navigate as well and see the cursor on the television right here they've also
3:53
reconfigured the entire interface here which to me it's a better look and a little bit more modern
3:58
see you've got apple tv over there disney plus netflix as mentioned previously oh look at this
4:04
an art gallery section maybe this can help you convince your loved ones welcome to your
4:41
So this is the 86 QNED99 featuring mini LED technology So LG does have other technologies at different price points
4:52
That's where this comes in. This is mini LED, and they've made improvements to LED displays to behave sort of more like OLED displays
5:01
By shrinking each individual LED, you end up with a lot more across the display
5:07
this is like 30,000, close to 30,000, around 30,000 individual LEDs, what that can allow you to do
5:14
is to turn off some of those lights in certain sections to create the absence of light and
5:22
get a blacker region. In the past, when you had bigger LEDs or fewer LEDs because each individual
5:31
one was larger, what would happen is if they would turn off, if you had some dimming going on
5:36
to create black sections, you could see with your eyes if you were looking, if you knew what to look
5:41
for, you would see with your eyes where that dimming was taking place and it can be a little bit distracting. So by having more LEDs to work with, mini LED technology, you get a superior
5:52
experience to traditional LED and you're paying a little bit less than OLED. So that's where this
5:59
one comes in. 86 inch, also 8K. The specifications outside of the display itself, sort of similar to
6:07
the signature display that I looked at at 8K. Can also do 4K, 120 hertz gaming. That's the big deal
6:14
as mentioned previously for the next gen consoles. 8K content, a little bit tougher to come by right
6:20
now. So you're sort of future-proofing yourself a little bit. And because this one also has the
6:25
a9 chip in it it's going to be capable of upscaling the pre-existing 4k content that is readily
6:31
available i want to see how the ps5 looks on there i'm going to try a couple different settings in
6:37
the miles morales game see it says ps5 now available and you can see there change the picture
6:42
and sound modes to optimize video game playing and i would click okay here games can be unplayable
6:47
when you have significant input lag and and that's another target of theirs so that's what i'm
6:54
interested in yzing here. The settings exist, at least in this title and certain other titles
7:00
for fidelity versus performance, whether you want an increased frame rate or better texture shadows and so forth So in this game right now I have the fidelity setting turned on to make the most of the resolution the display etc
7:21
Tracing technologies and lighting reflections and things, as you can see on his chest
7:29
And that nuance is significant, but you appreciate it more when you have a display tech that really amps it up from black to white
7:47
Kind of wild, actually, how this old animation format, these drawings, how decent they can look on modern technology
8:02
and the mouse is always so happy. Listen, here's the point, all right
8:12
It doesn't matter if it's old content, new content, bad content, good content, low res, high res
8:19
Obviously, you're going to want to feed the thing the best signal you possibly can
8:25
But they've done tremendous work here to make it look great with almost anything
8:30
It's kind of shocking, in fact, So there you have it. OLED
8:35
The next generation version 2 brighter. And obviously here to stay at this point as the premium display tech
8:45
I've been there since the beginning. Since I first set eyes on the original OLED display
8:52
And appreciated the contrast. And the colors. And here we are today
8:58
We keep it moving. Better brightness. better processor more of a focus on gaming these this is the progression that you're looking for
9:07
and it's the progression i'm looking for with the technology that i love and still hope many many
9:13
more people get a chance to interact with in their own homes i love to see them becoming more
9:18
affordable and i still think it's the superior tech for any tv that you might be considering
