This New Laptop Has a Hidden Secret...

Oh baby! Today I have one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, gaming laptop that's ever been on the table here

This is the ROG Strix Scar 17. The spec sheet is just pretty wild

12950HX i9. That's a first for a laptop here on Unbox Therapy

The latest from Intel. You've also got RTX 3080 Ti built in

90 watt hour fast charging, up to 64 gigs of DDR5 memory

Thunderbolt 4 is built in up to two terabyte plus two terabyte RAID 0 setup for the storage

This one in front of me is 1 plus 1. That's PCIe storage

You've also got gamer specific stuff like Aura Sync. You have customizable caps

The display is either FHD at 360 hertz or QHD at 240 hertz

Tremendous refresh. It's a gaming laptop. So that's obviously what you're looking for

Kind of a nice size too. 17-inch display. It's also got Thunderbolt 4

and then you've got all types of intelligent cooling courtesy of ROG

Just like the last time around, we have the device lifting to greet us

ROG Citadel. This is also probably a first. There's a blacklight included

and I'll show you more about why this is in the box. in a few moments. Here is the main unit. Obviously a beast. Cool to the touch right away. Lots of

metal in use here. Also some translucent components. Look at the angles on this. Very

stealth-like. ROG logo up top. Looking around the device on the back, we're going to see our

Thunderbolt 4. There's another type-C connector. Full-size HDMI port, Ethernet jack, and then your

DC in two USB a ports as well as an og audio jack for your headset oh this is that special key

which doesn't look installed in the moment so maybe it's in a separate box somewhere here is

the inside of the laptop that kind of translucent aspect on the back it carries through onto the

deck so you can see through a lot of this it's not like a sticker or something this is actually

like a smoked clear surface that you can see through which is cool obviously we have a full

When you're dealing with a 17 inch laptop, you get a lot of space for your keyboard

You can also include a full size number pad. You have a large track pad glass feels like glass When it comes to the design they don just leave the bottom alone There actually some kind of cool elements here including for those who dare on this rubber foot pad

back on top on this one over here, public of gamers, it's all very cryptic

You gotta be in the know to understand what's going on. And that's kind of where this little black light comes in

because there's design elements on the lid, which you can't see very well with the naked eye

But once you click this button here, look at that. All of a sudden, all these things start to pop up

Shapes, dates, numbers of a variety of significance. Maybe you have a black light or you're in some sort of environment which utilizes one

But otherwise, in order to show this off, you're going to need to keep this in your laptop bag

and then show people your magic trick. Also inside the package, a power brick, power cables

This is a monster. It's gonna have to be. After all, you remember the chip specification

this particular i9 chip, TDP 65 watt, RTX 3080 Ti, max TDP 175 watt

So what we're dealing with here is a 330 watt power adapter

in order to provide the power necessary to get the most out of a gaming laptop of this caliber

A little bit of paperwork. Whoa. Oh, here it is. The next version of the ROG Keystone

a small NFC drive compatible with laptops and desktops, some of them

The idea behind the Keystone is that it serves as a proprietary physical key that allows users to transfer hardware profiles

and settings easily between machines. So if you had multiple machines and you didn't wanna have to constantly be configuring them

and setting them up, you would just insert this little keystone into this section over here like this, boom

and take it with you on the go. User profile hot swap scenario

and it comes with this protective little keychain so that it's always with you as you move about

systems and it has a little carabiner clip on it as well. Last up we have these user configurable

sort of design plates ROG actually sent over an Unbox Therapy customized model as well So currently and they do oh is that magnetic That so satisfying

You go to pull it out and you don't have to like really force it because the only thing pulling it back

the only drag is just the pull of the magnet and then lifting

We can go that route. We can go with the completely opaque bluish, purplish ROG

That's kind of nice as well. We can do the custom unbox therapy look

And that's, I don't mind. Well done to the ROG. That's a look right there

This might be my new gaming laptop. It's cool how this customizable element

you can still see it when the lid is lifted. Also, look at the asymmetrical design

on the bezel of the display. How it leaves a slight channel there under this section

Also, you have a tremendously slim bezel at the top, depending on individual webcam is maybe important to me it's not important particularly on a gaming

laptop and i would much rather have the immersion of uh the slimmest bezel possible so i have the uh

the qhd display it's up to you depends how competitive you are on the gaming side of things

i think that having more pixels is a little bit more versatile and i mean you're still 240 hertz

which is for me plenty and you have the qhd display but i guess there is a config available

with the 1080p display and an even higher refresh if that's a compromise you wanna make

You can see the RGB backlight on the keyboard, but you can also see it at the front edge here

which is a nice touch. You can see it casts that RGB, which is glowing and flowing

You have the desktop, the keyboard, and then also this section along the top

There's RGB up in there. Can you see this? Can you see this RGB in here? Can you see this RGB

And the logo, nevermind, with the cool outline going on, Many nice RGB elements here

Oh boy, that's no good. No good. So we're getting, we're in bad shape, right

Jesus. This dude with the shield. Holy. Oh

Where is everybody? Holy! Oh man, you gonna lose that right now

Alright, I didn't even need that. I didn't even need to hit that Q over there

It was like, yeah, look, I had 13 eliminations and how many times did I die

Five times. All right, whatever. It's definitely the fans are going. It's not crazy

And we had the speaker system going on the laptop as well. Definitely not noticing it

Never mind if you have a headset or something hooked up. So what do you have here? A very capable gaming laptop

with all the features you can possibly want. Insane power. Customizability. Secret Easter eggs with the black light

So much RGB going on. Look how slender these things have gotten

Once upon a time, 17-inch gaming laptop with these capabilities would be an absolute brick

I'm also happy to see the 17-inch display going strong. It's a very versatile screen size

not just for gaming, but also productivity, because chances are, if you're spending this kind of money on a laptop

you're gonna need it to do a lot of different things, including some work, hope, maybe every so often

in between gaming sessions. So there you have it. That is the new ROG Strix Scar 17

It's got all the specifications you can possibly need. A true desktop replacement

This thing can do whatever you want to do, including obviously game with the lights dim
