Okay, so I'm gonna launch it for the first time
0:07
It's actually in Sport Plus mode. I'm a little nervous. I know, yeah, I can't
0:15
Here we go, here we go, here we go! Let's go. Check out that color
0:35
Look at that. They call it Mamba Green. I love this car. This is quite a package
0:40
I have a Taycan Turbo S. This one has a much bigger trunk
0:46
This is the new Sport Turismo version of the Taycan GTS trim
0:53
You have these black rims. You see the red calipers. you've essentially got comparable performance to the regular sedan with a bigger trunk
1:03
It's honestly negligible, the difference. And I've been driving this one around instead of the Taycan Turbo S
1:09
And even though this is the GTS trim, the experience is close. We still have our charge ports on either side
1:16
This has the sport design styling. This extra little piece, trim piece, and the difference in shape is an option you can get on the Taycan
1:26
just maybe makes it look a little bit more aggressive. The color here is really cool
1:31
This is a metallic color, Mamba Green, and depending on the way the light is reflecting off of it
1:37
you get different tones of green. On the front, we do have a frunk
1:41
Now, the only thing about the frunk on any Taycan is that there's a latch
1:47
like there would be on a typical hood. It doesn't come straight up, but it does have a satisfying click when you close it
1:53
unlike on the Tesla. This is really clean under the hood. You're just gonna have a spot for your washer fluid
2:00
and that's pretty much that. Satisfying click. This is gonna be your secondary charge port
2:10
This is touch-based. So you just slide underneath and it pops open
2:14
And this secondary flap over here is gonna give you that extra charge potential
2:19
The handles, they're recessed, aerodynamic, drag coefficient, minimizers. You know what I'm saying
2:26
They pop out. They're motorized though when you approach. With this GTS trim, you have this glossy piece along the bottom side here
2:34
You know, it makes the car look a little bit lower, a little bit speedier. So just a nice little kind of extra touch
2:40
You have the glass roof, giant panoramic. And actually on this model, you can get a roof rack from the factory
2:49
So you can get rails so that you can have crossbars and put your cargo or whatever you want
2:55
I don't know, snowboards. What do you do? The canoes, right? Kurt could put a canoe up there if he wanted
3:01
A canoe on top of a Taycan is something I like about that. You can put a canoe so long as it has a good drag coefficient
3:07
This is where the magic happens on the Sport Turismo. What a lovely trunk
3:13
Now, you guys know I'm constantly moving gear and stuff around. You know, it's not the hugest trunk in the world on the Taycan
3:20
As much as I love driving it, sometimes I'm wishing I had a little bit more cargo space
3:24
That's what this one does. It's like a reverse mullet. This is a party in the front, business in the back
3:31
This is where you got to get your work done. Got to pack your stuff. Got to pack your people and their cargo
3:35
But from the front, this thing looks exactly like the other Taycan. You can't tell the difference
3:39
And also from a performance perspective, like I said, it's going to perform the same way
3:44
I realize this is the GTS trim compared to the Turbo S trim that I have. But if you outfitted, say, the Cross Turismo with the Turbo S trim
3:52
it's essentially going to perform in the same way. And even just driving this GTS around, I'm like, wow
3:58
Another difference I should mention before I pop the trunk, because I do believe that's the most exciting aspect of this
4:04
GTS trim has the red caliper and the steel brakes, as opposed to the ceramic brakes, which comes on the Turbo S trim
4:13
So that's another difference that I noticed in driving this one around, worth noting
4:18
Many people think, by the way, that when it comes to cost to performance, and this is even before the Taycan, many people believe the GTS is kind of the value point
4:26
performance and cool looking trim, but then without having to spend that kind of crazy turbo money
4:31
Some people call it the sweet spot. Here you can see we have the blacked out Taycan GTS on the back
4:36
motorized obviously and a huge opening so that you can really get big items in there you're not
4:44
going to be competing with the top part of the opening as you try to jam things into there they
4:50
have been very thoughtful on the standard taikan sedan and the sport turismo in the fact that this
4:57
is actually a big enough horizontal space here to put golf clubs so you can throw golf clubs here
5:04
and still have tons of cargo in front of it. There's a little bit of cargo underneath here as well
5:09
if you have smaller items that you don't want to have moving around
5:12
And the same thing goes in these cubbies, which are actually quite deep in the sides
5:17
We have a little bit of netting here, a couple of straps for keeping things in place
5:23
Another nice thing that I like here is having this really robust metal finish here
5:29
to protect against scratches. So when you're loading things in, they can bang up against it and it should be pretty durable. You also have 12 volt power back
5:38
here. If you want to run a little fridge or something, or you want to recharge some batteries
5:42
while you're driving. The other key thing is I can reach to where the seats are and actually push
5:48
them down from back here. There's a little latch up there. I can just push it from here, fold this
5:53
down. And the same thing goes for the other side. And when that's in the down position, then we have
5:59
even more fun with cargo which is a new channel i'm launching on youtube
6:05
it's where we try we take every car and we try to fit the most unusual and obscure items
6:18
into confined cargo spaces and we say like which one can do a barbecue and then we say
6:26
which one of these cars will fit a bouncy castle or which one of these cars will fit a year supply of Kraft macaroni and cheese how big would a year supply be look at that cargo i don know what you get excited about but i get
6:45
excited about having cargo space in a car with this level of performance those are things that
6:53
get me excited because it's ridiculous you never thought you would see it when i was trying to
6:57
explain this car to my kids they're like it doesn't look as cool as your uh tycan turbo s and i was
7:03
like yeah but can you do this can you do this i was laying down in there i'm like can you do that
7:10
man imagine the gear we can get in and then that's exactly what we did i mean it's not quite
7:16
minivan status but it don't drive like a minivan either does it mo i didn't think so
7:23
okay so now we are in the cockpit of the tycan sport turismo gts trim and this one has some
7:34
pretty cool upgrades the porsche design clock at the top the secondary screen for the passenger
7:40
to control things like multimedia, the music that's playing and also nav if you need them to
7:47
just like put in some coordinates. Of course since it is the GTS trim you also have the Alcantara
7:52
steering wheel. Soft touch. I'm not sure if I would choose this. I kind of like the leather
8:00
but it's hard. Some days I'm like and then other days I like the grip of the leather so it's really
8:06
i mean it's a personal preference thing but gts always comes with the alcantara steering wheel
8:12
we have lighting in here around the cup holders ambient lighting that shows up in uh the dark and
8:19
you can set it to uh an adaptive mode which is really cool different lights at different times
8:24
fading in and out very moody we have a lot of screens so never mind just these two screens this
8:29
whole thing in front of me here is a nice large display as well and it's really configurable it's
8:35
currently in they call it the reduced setting you can also put a map there you can put what's called
8:39
power meter and then you can put some of your lane keep safety features on the left hand on the right
8:45
hand we can do trip nav sport chrono drive mode sometimes i like to have drive mode there just to
8:52
remind me which drive mode i'm in and while we're talking about drive mode it's controlled via this
8:57
little dial right here so you're constantly reminded to change your drive mode which is good
9:06
if it's buried in a menu somewhere you really don't want to access it all that frequently
9:10
so it means you end up probably having a performance car in normal too often this is
9:16
nice because you can just very quickly like boom i'm in sport sport plus you can see the adjustments
9:20
and the adjustments are legit like the suspension is going down right now and kirk noticed the
9:27
stiffness changes the steering changes the acceleration changes everything changes with each mode and there's even individual modes to set up your custom specifications so you can see
9:38
the drive mode individual sport plus the chassis is selectable from normal sport sport plus the
9:46
height lift regular lowered low lift is really cool when you're going through a drive-through
9:50
or something like that to elevate, have a more comfy exchange as you tap to pay
9:56
and then receive your coffee or whatever. And it will remember obviously locations
10:00
where lift is necessary. We also have recuperation. That's your regenerative braking
10:05
which don't even get me started on how beautiful Porsche's implementation is of regen
10:12
initiated via the brake pedal. It just feels so refined to me
10:19
and it makes sense in my mind and as somebody who's driven a gasoline Porsche it's such a
10:24
beautiful transition don't get me wrong the future may very well be one pedal strong regen huge range
10:33
and all the beautiful things that come with that in this stopgap crossover like what they're doing
10:39
here just feels a little bit more polished to me that's it's a personal thing okay obviously you
10:45
can also turn on your electric sport sound if you want that type of feedback sort of sounds like a
10:51
spaceship but the feedback's also useful so you have this reminder of how fast you're actually
10:56
traveling another cool thing as you change your drive mode you'll see the range that your car has
11:02
remaining changing 287 294 302 and then all the way to range mode 311 range mode is interesting
11:11
It will put the car in a lowered setting. It will limit your top speed
11:16
So it'll aim to be as aerodynamic as possible. And obviously it'll give you the most range possible
11:21
that you'll put on your regen braking and so forth. Now this is a new menu that they've come up with
11:28
and I like it. I like it a lot. They've done a great job of kind of updating it
11:33
but not overhauling it to the extent that it doesn't feel familiar. And now we have color-coded icons
11:38
as opposed to the monochromatic thing they had going on previously, which lets you just more easily tell what you're tapping on
11:45
So we have nav, we have the secondary display, which also lets us launch into there. And we have
11:49
our climate related controls, which are persistent. They're always here. You don't need to go into a
11:56
menu. You don't need to click on one display multiple times to access them. They're just
12:01
always there. I just want to change the temperature. It's there's no faster way than having it
12:06
persistent and always there as it is in this vehicle other things like heated and cooled
12:10
seats you just want a button i don't care if it's a screen i want it to be persistent
12:14
reliable and where i expect it to be and that's the case with this secondary portrait style display
12:21
that they've put in this location this pad here you can also draw on if as an input method if you
12:26
want to put some text in and you don't want to use voice you can do that there but the beauty is
12:32
we have Android Auto and we have wireless Android Auto. You step in the car, it loads up your apps, your music, Google Maps, Google Assistant
12:41
Unbelievable. Once you're using Google Assistant in your car, there's nothing that I've experienced that's as effective for constant interaction
12:50
You're driving. Voice is better. It's faster. You do it more frequently. And Assistant is at the top of the food chain when it comes to voice input
12:57
Of course you also have Apple CarPlay if you on the Apple side of things but there nothing better than just having your phone in your car on your car on the display and you can put it away charge it not even think about it everything is right there for me it the
13:12
biggest thing missing on the tesla side i really wish there was some kind of way of doing this but
13:17
at the moment not exactly another thing i should mention about this car mine as well incredibly easy
13:23
to park the turning radius is so tight and wonderful this just feels such a pleasure to
13:28
park. It feels so much smaller than it actually is, not just to park, but also to drive. Some other
13:33
buttons that I really like on this secondary display, just controls for the car. You want to
13:39
quickly open the hood or trunk or open or close the trunk. And then the charging as well. You want
13:43
to quickly check your range, pre-cool or heat, see the percentage that it's charged. This is useful
13:49
when it's actually charging. Air conditioning, you still have the funny business with the virtually
13:55
moving your vents around. They stand by this idea. I think it's been mentioned here on YouTube
14:03
It's definitely not faster than just reaching up, touching the vent and moving it. With these
14:07
electric cars, they want everything to be futuristic, including this aspect. Apple Music
14:12
has direct integration, so does Spotify, so your phone is not going to need to be involved. You can
14:18
just use the car's connection and your credentials for Apple Music, Spotify, Apple Podcasts. No matter
14:24
who's driving the car they can click on it i guess via your profile this one is outfitted with the
14:29
bose sound system oh look at that something called sound true for sound improvement for
14:34
compressed music formats driving noise dependent sound adjustment depending i guess how fast you're
14:40
driving so the bose is not the top option for audio that's the burmester system which is out
14:47
of control it's kind of hard to compare it's really expensive edition but it does sound amazing and it
14:53
has a ridiculous amount of control for how you want it to sound. All right now as far as space
14:59
in the cabins I think this is the 18-way seating option. We have lots of storage surprisingly. We
15:05
have a bunch of space under here in the doors, passenger and driver. We have our two cup holders
15:11
which I mentioned. We have a glove box. We have a little bit of storage here. I kind of wish this
15:18
was a bit bigger but I understand sleekness and so on. It does have wireless charging. You will
15:24
place your phone in the upright position in this section right here. Two type-c connectors and a
15:30
12 volt and also if you want to use a wired connection for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
15:37
So there are controls on the steering wheel here. Two wheels which are very satisfying. You have a
15:43
customizable button here which you can set up to do whatever you want it to do we have our voice
15:49
control over here answering calls go back and then this helps us navigate around our dash for things
15:55
that we might want to change and then as mentioned we have our drive mode selector which is the most
16:00
satisfying input on the whole car probably what does the horn even sound like i don't think i've
16:09
ever used the horn on my actual taikan i just realized that when's the last time you guys used
16:14
a horn are you frequent horners no okay the other thing unlike some other electric cars we have a
16:21
traditional indicator this is so natural for somebody that grew up using this and then all
16:27
of your adaptive stuff cruise control and the sort of smart driving that the vehicle will do
16:32
which on the highway is actually pretty good that's all controlled via this a second stock
16:39
down below you're just going to press forward it'll initiate it set the speed on the right
16:43
hand side you're going to control your wipers on the back and the front something that Porsche is
16:50
doing in it maybe a different way than some other EV makers is your drive selector so we still have
16:58
an actual dedicated drive selector as opposed to something on screen and it's satisfying in and of
17:05
itself a textured grip on here you press up to go reverse you press down to go into drive you have
17:10
a dedicated park button and it just is a little bit more confidence inspiring than a display at
17:16
the moment and we have a huge power button in order to turn the car off before you get out
17:22
this is all nice alcantara suede like material on the liner the whole top is glass and you don't feel
17:31
like you're missing any type of headroom. It's just a lot of space for a person my size, which
17:37
is six feet tall. I can get very comfortable in this car from a headroom standpoint, also from a
17:43
legroom standpoint, and even just adjusting the steering wheel, all super adjustable, motorized
17:49
and so on. Oh yeah, the other thing that I wanted to mention, the windows, frameless. So it's just
17:55
the door you're swinging when the windows are down and in the back they go almost all the way down
18:02
so this has the three seat setup which my car does not have i have just a little storage area here
18:12
it's not a huge seat but for kids or something i kind of wish that i had ordered this third seat
18:18
option i wonder if this changes oh i think this is maybe not as cool but anyway you have two
18:24
cup holders in here they're pretty robust it's a 60 40 split so you can put down this seat and the
18:32
center portion or you can just put down this singular unit so you can make a call we can put
18:39
two child seats back here one on each side and it's going to click in nicely i also see there's
18:43
an airbag indicator here so i guess we have side airbags the car had turned off when i got out of
18:48
the driver's seat and that pushed this seat back a little bit to make it easier for me to get out
18:53
I actually have even a little bit more leg room than I originally thought because this just moved forward when he powered it back on
18:59
The other thing to mention, this one is outfitted with the rear climate display
19:03
As you can see, the individual in the back can select their optimal climate
19:07
Plus, they get a little basket, a little bin down here. So, here's the coolest thing, though
19:12
It's back here, this giant trunk behind my head here. As an example, you could easily access stuff that you have in the back
19:22
You could have a little fridge back there and access some cold drinks or a sandwich that you packed for your trip for your picnic
19:31
I just am thinking of all the possibilities that are you now capable of so much more because of your cargo Cargo dreams
19:44
Mo's always wearing cargo pants. So he's obviously thinking about cargo. Is he actually wearing cargo pants right now
19:52
Do you see what I'm talking about? I feel like you should start to understand me, Mo
19:56
I'm trying to say, no, you can have it all. So I'm trying to say
20:03
You can have it all. That's what I'm trying to say. You don't have to compromise
20:09
I feel like you could probably even fit your dog back there. It hops over there
20:13
All the seats down. It's a luxury ride. People are like, don't let the dog back there
20:18
What are you talking about? It's a Taycan Sport Turismo GTS, dude
20:23
In the Mamba Green. You guys tell me what you think. Far as I can tell, I think it's a pretty cool package
20:31
I think maybe we're ready for the wagon to be back. Maybe the wagon can be cool
20:37
Maybe it's wagon time. Too many SUVs over there. Maybe it's time for wagons to make a resurgence
20:44
And I can't think of a cooler wagon. Mamba Green. Taycan GTS
20:52
Wagon Life. Dragon Life. yeah wagon life is dragon life doesn't this look kind of feel like a dragon sort of
21:03
don't tell will he'll get his game of thrones going because they got a new game of thrones
21:09
as well right yeah house of dragons that's what i'm talking about i mean i don't know
21:13
anything about it but will probably does you can ask will we're out here on the countryside just uh
21:21
driving this Porsche and I'm going to give my take. I don't drive Porsches
21:29
So this is, I've heard that this is a pretty fast one and we're going to launch it
21:37
So my initial impressions is that it's like you're driving on a cloud. It's super smooth
21:46
and it's almost weightless but you get like anytime you turn there's control so it's a really
21:56
weird feeling especially in an ev it seems like the whole interior is meant for kind of like a
22:04
racing feel but it's also very luxurious and comfortable as it should be to me i feel like
22:13
it's really futuristic, but on a functional level, it's really bright. That's something that I really like about this
22:22
Like there's no, there's rarely any glare and somehow they just made it really anti-reflective
22:29
Here we go. Okay. See you later. I'm gonna launch it for the first time
22:37
It's actually in sport plus mode. So let's go. oh my god that was no warning bro he's gonna count us down
22:50
this episode has been sponsored by van true and their element one dash cam this has a really
23:01
unique feature where it sticks on with a magnet so you can pull it off really easily it also gives
23:06
you 2K recording, which is crystal cleared at 30 frames per second. You have voice control
23:13
Wi-Fi and app control. Plus there's a wireless remote controller if you quickly want to send a
23:18
video clip to storage to make sure it can't be overwritten if it's an important video clip
23:23
You've also got a circular polarizer filter in order to cut down reflections from your windshield
23:29
while you're recording on your dash cam. As you can see on the app, you can preview and also
23:35
trigger recordings from there. There is a screen on the Element 1 and Bantrue also micro SD cards
23:41
to get you up and running. So the cool thing with this mounting setup is that the power plugs into
23:48
the mount rather than the camera. So the camera remains removable so you can take it with you
23:53
and not leave it exposed and hooked up. You're not going to need to plug it back in and fiddle
23:58
with a cable each time you want to attach it. So here is the camera unit in the navy blue color
24:05
This is your mounting point. We have a button here for triggering a recording
24:10
We've also got our micro SD card slot. There's three buttons on the bottom
24:14
which are gonna allow you to navigate the interface on the display
24:18
There's also a microphone in that location. And there's a type C port
24:22
If you want to remove the camera completely, view or save your video clips directly to your computer
24:27
Of course, you'll also have the option to just remove the micro SD card and then plug that into the full size SD card and read your video files that way
24:35
This is the little wireless remote control in order to save a video clip into your permanent storage
24:43
There's a little LED indicator as well to let you know you've triggered it and a 3M sticky strip so you can put it in a discrete location and it will always be in the same spot
24:53
Now with a dash cam, they're always recording, but the way this works is it will overwrite previous footage on the SD card when it fills up
25:03
So the reason that it's key to trigger permanent recordings is if there's an actual incident that takes place to ensure that that footage doesn't get overwritten
25:12
We even have protected stickers so people know that they're being recorded
25:16
Now, what's nice about this 12 volt is you've still got another USB-A port
25:21
So you're going to be able to charge up a secondary device as well. So this is going to be on your windshield
25:26
And then the camera is simply going to slide in like that. And the magnet is strong enough to hold it in place
25:32
And it simply slides out. So the beauty here is that you can take your camera with you
25:36
either to offload footage, or maybe you just want to put it in a more discrete location
25:40
Now, the beauty of the polarizing filter is it will dramatically cut down on reflections
25:45
that you're seeing from your windshield bouncing back into the dash cam
25:50
Now you're gonna have usable 2K footage without the distraction of those reflections
25:56
Thank you again to Vantrue and The Element One for sponsoring this episode
26:01
If you're looking for a dash cam, then definitely look at this product
