Hello friends, welcome to Tutorials Point
0:10
In this video we are going to learn Project Panel in After Effects
0:14
Now in After Effects every element is placed into the project panel
0:19
As a beginner, there are a few important things you need to know about this panel before we move on
0:26
In this video I am going to discuss the project panel in depth and show you how to you how to do you how to know about this panel
0:29
and show you how the media elements are brought into the program
0:33
The project panel is located on the left-hand side of the interface
0:37
All elements that exist in your project are stored in the project panel
0:42
Here we can see some folders. In this com folder, we can see all compositions will be stored
0:49
And we also have other folders like inputs and row footages. Now if I toggle down this input folder, then I can see you
0:58
more folders where are organized my media into various sections such as photos, videos
1:04
PhD, AI and audio. Now if you click on the drop down button in the folder then you can see different media and
1:11
different folders. Now as we are going to learn about this project panel let give this panel some more area So for that just move your cursor over here Now you can see the cursor has changed to an arrow Now I can just click and drag this to the right side and this to the downwards
1:35
This will give you more visibility to the project. This is the way of organizing data into the project panel so I know where everything is and
1:45
where to access them from. Next, let's look at the top of the project panel
1:52
Here you can see information about the media or element you use in the project
1:58
For example, if I want information about this video, then I just click on this, so here you
2:04
can see all information about this video. Here you can see information like video name, how many times this video is used in the project
2:14
Dimension of the video, video length, frame per second and format. Now another way to check the information is by simply dragging this area to the right side
2:29
So now you can see all the information here. Here you can see some more information
2:35
Now instead of dragging this project panel, you can just press the tilt button on the keyboard
2:40
to enlarge this project panel. So here you can see all the information information in detail Now all media and elements that you bring into the After Effect project are not physically part of this project
2:54
They are linked from your computer to the After Effect Project panel
2:58
You can also consider the project panel to be a link panel. Now, if the media or element is edited, changed or delete from your computer, then it will break the link
3:10
For example, here in the project panel we can see some videos
3:16
Now just right click on it and click Reveal in Explorer. Here you can see all videos used in our project
3:25
Let me just change the name of this video by adding S at the end of this name
3:31
If you come back to the After Effect, then you will get the message
3:36
After Effect warning, a file could not be found. If file are changed or missing, then you will see this colored image and this will be applied to anything that is missing in the project
3:49
If you're not in the project panel, the file icon has changed too because the file is missing
3:56
To resolve this, I can come back to the file location on the computer and rename it with the correct name
4:02
Now, when you come back to the after effect, you will see that colored image is still there
4:07
It still showing our file as missing So to solve this problem we come to the project panel and right click on the file and click reload footage And as you can see the media is back again
4:22
Now another situation is if a file moved to another location, then how can you link it with the
4:27
after effect? For example, I just move this video file from the video folder to the input folder
4:34
Now if you come back to After Effect, you will see the missing footage error
4:41
After Effect warning, a file could not be found. If I click OK, you can again see the colored image background
4:49
Now, these are a common thing that happen in project. So to solve this problem, right click on the missing file and click replace footage and then click on file
5:00
So here, you need to navigate to the video folder. Next, click to the Dolphins video footage and click import
5:09
So as you can see, our problem is solved. If this kind of issue happens, then just reload the footage or relink the footage
5:18
So there are too many things you will need to learn about this project panel in our upcoming videos
5:24
So in the next video, we are going to learn about the tool panel in After Effect
5:29
Thank you
