Now we are at a Guangdong market, which is the first permanent market built in Korea
0:18
It was built in 1905. It actually started out as a market that's selling everything, from textiles
0:24
agricultural and marine products to street food. But nowadays, it's most well-eastern
0:30
known for its street food. We're starting out with one of the most popular food items at the market
0:36
Andrew, this smells really good. In front of us is the mong bean pancakes
0:41
They're called Bindet Duk in Korean. I see her back there grinding the beans. Mm-hmm
0:46
Those are soaked mong beans that are being grounded. In these pancakes, there are mung beans, there's pork, there are veggies
0:54
These pancakes are so cheap to make. In Korea, they were called the commoner's dish, because
1:00
When the famine struck in Korea, the noble people would make tons of these pancakes
1:06
and spread them out to the port so no one was hungry. It's so funny when you travel that you look at these foods
1:13
but then you associate them with foods that you know. And in Japan, there's Okonomiyaki
1:19
Yeah, in Switzerland, there are like potato pancakes as well. So I think..
1:25
A world tour of potato pancakes Exactly Mmm so good Like little sprouts scallions vegetables
1:37
I've never had mung beans before. Yeah, it's a very Asian and Korean thing
1:44
I'm doing another dip. Yeah. That's the spicy rice cake that we'll be eating. Yum
1:54
Saddle up here. Let's try these, yeah. Mm. Mmm
2:08
That's spicy. It is. It just hits you. Mm-hmm. Rice cakes are a big part of Korean cuisine because they're so addictive
2:22
So I'm going to wash this down with this. Soup. Yes, this is a fish cake soup
2:28
Ooh, tasty. From spicy to sweet. This is like everyday street food
2:35
I grew up eating this every week. Hot dog, Korean honey pancake
2:43
So what should we get honey? Honey sounds good. Oh, honey is the quintessential hot dog experience
2:49
Should definitely get honey. Thank you. Cheers. Cheers. It's like a crispy donut with honey inside
3:02
That is so good. That is so good
