Apr 10, 2023
Erriyon Knighton has revealed that his ultimate goal is to break the 19-second barrier in the 200m race, according to the Olympics website.
Knighton is no stranger to breaking records, holding the world under-18 best in the 200m with a time of 19.84 seconds, which he set on June 27, 2021. He also set the world U20 record with a time of 19.69 seconds on June 26, 2022. In addition, his best time of 19.49 seconds (not ratified) makes him the fifth-fastest athlete in history over the distance, behind only Usain Bolt (19.19), Yohan Blake (19.26), Noah Lyles (19.31), and Michael Johnson (19.32). It was also the fastest season opener ever.
