Oct 4, 2026
Torrential rainfall caused widespread flooding in Spain's Tarragona province on Friday, inundating fields and residential areas and disrupting road and rail services across southern Catalonia. More than 250 millimetres of rain fell in parts of Tarragona, swelling rivers and ravines and leaving thousands of residents without electricity. Firefighters rescued at least 18 people trapped in vehicles and continued pumping water from flooded areas in Tortosa. Authorities issued emergency alerts for Baix Ebre and Montsia, urging residents to remain indoors, with travel restrictions remaining in place as emergency crews responded to the flooding.
