RUSSIAN DRONE HITS Kyiv-Warsaw train; Poland scrambles F-16s as Putin's war nears NATO territory
Sep 14, 2026
A Russian drone struck the locomotive of a Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train in Ukraine's Volyn region just two kilometres from the Polish border, bringing Moscow's war perilously close to NATO territory. The attack formed part of a massive overnight barrage involving more than 450 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Ukraine said no passengers were injured after railway staff detected the threat in advance. The strikes prompted temporary restrictions at several Polish-Ukrainian border crossings and led Poland to scramble F-16 fighter jets, helicopters and surveillance aircraft. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia's attacks were "knocking directly on the doors of the EU and NATO" as Kyiv called for tougher sanctions against Moscow.
