Hi everyone, it's Karen from the Georgie Grandma
0:16
Welcome back to my channel and welcome back to another Sunday sunshine show

0:27
Marie, Maria from at Maria Crocker. Tina from Tina's Talk Time and we get together every Sunday morning at 7.30 to bring you a video
0:36
We all talk about the same topic, but we put our own spin on it
0:41
So if you haven't already subscribed to our channels, please hit the subscribe button because
0:47
we bring you a different video every Sunday and we talk about lots of different topics from
0:51
fashion to thrift halls to cooking to shopping. We just talk about everything
0:57
and we have a lot of lovely subscribers. I'd like to start by saying thank you so much to Linda
1:05
who came up to me one day last week while I was out shopping at British Heart Foundation I'd popped into
1:13
And I think she worked there and she came up to me and she went, Hi, Karen, the Georgie Gromwell, and I was just so taken aback
1:20
because that's the first time I've ever been recognised. And it threw us a bit
1:25
So Linda, if I sounded a bit off, I'm really sorry. Just it really threw us to be recognised because it was the first time
1:33
But it was so lovely to meet you. And thanks so much for saying you enjoyed my channel
1:38
as well as the other ladies on a Sunday morning as well. So thank you so much for that
1:43
It was nice to meet you. So today's topic is cleaning. Now, not my favourite topic, even though I think this might have been my idea
1:52
We thought we'd all talk about some kind of cleaning. things is it is spring it does tend to be the time of you where you think about cleaning your
2:01
house. Well, I try not to think about it to be honest. But I thought what I'd do is I'd talk about
2:08
the five cleaning products that are by the most. These are the ones that I tend to buy on repeat
2:16
The other things, other cleaning products, I kind of just buy whatever's, you know, whatever
2:21
comes to hand, whatever's there when I'm shopping. But these ones, these five
2:25
products, I tend to buy them on repeat because I really do like them. So after I've talked about
2:30
those, I'm also going to give you a few cleaning motivation tips because I know sometimes you just
2:38
don't want to do the clean and do it. So I thought I'd try and give you some motivational tips
2:42
that's going to make you want to clean. So let's start with the five cleaning products that I buy
2:47
over and over again. Now, the first one is an astonished product and it is the mold and
2:55
mildew blaster. This one is Appleburst. I was going to say flavour, but please don't drink it
3:02
Apple burst scent. Remove stains, no need to scrub. Now, I've been buying this for about
3:09
I'd say for about four years. The first time I bought it
3:13
I think it was only a pound, and I got it from Poundland, I think. I think it's more like $2.99 now
3:19
and I think I got this from home bargains. I do prefer the original scent
3:23
but the apple burst is okay. Now, when I'd bought it, I was having, well
3:30
I'd had real problems with black mould grown in the grout on the tiles in my bathroom
3:36
I wish I'd taken before and after photographs, but I didn't at the time. And I picked this up and I thought
3:43
it was it going to work? You know, it was only a pound. I didn't hold out much hope
3:48
And Warren was like, that's never going to work. So when he was at work one day
3:52
I sprayed this on. I left it for about, I think I left it for about half an hour and I rinsed it
3:58
And I could see a difference straight away. But I did it because it was so bad at the time
4:03
I did this about four times. And by over the three hours where I did it
4:10
the difference was astonishing It really was It took all of it off It looked like the bathroom had just been re And when Warren came in he went you did that with the astonish I said yeah he went he says I take my words back
4:30
And honestly, it is really, really good. If you have mould and mildew in your house anywhere, try this on it
4:39
I really highly recommended. It even works on your shower curtain. You know, if you forget to straighten your shower curtain out when you're getting out of the shower
4:47
and you sometimes leave it and it can start to get a little bit moldy. This works on that as well
4:52
Highly recommend that product. The second product is also an astonished product
4:58
And this is the astonish window and glass cleaner. And it is eucalyptus and lemon
5:04
It's got lemon oil for a streak-free shine. And I use this on my French doors and my windows
5:11
And it really does leave a streak-free shine. It's really good. And it smells nice
5:17
as well. I have used other window cleaner and glass cleaners in the past. They'd say they have
5:23
vinegar in, but they have really strong smell of vinegar. And I know vinegar does work on windows
5:29
I mean, I used to swear by, you know, newspaper with vinegar, clean your windows, but doesn't make
5:34
hands dirty using the newspaper. But this is a really nice scent in it, and it does the job fine
5:41
And I think this is only a couple of pounds as well. So yeah, recommend that one. The next one
5:47
is a carpet foam and this is the pet fabulosa and it is a foam freshener and this one is sage and vanilla they do do it in other sense and it is a spray and you use it after you've vacuumed or you don't even have to vacuum if you want
6:04
I've got the pet one because we do have a cat and I don't want any of the products to harm out obviously and it does take the smell away it just gives your carpets a really nice fresh smell when you use it
6:17
You just spray it on. You don't need to do anything else. Just leave the foam on. You will see all the form to start with, but it does just melt into the carpet and it leaves a nice, fresh smell and also kind to your pets as well. You do do other varieties that aren't pet ones if you don't have pets in the house, but this one is really useful if you do. Staying with the pet theme, this Vamush Pet Hair Dissolver is wonderful. It's for
6:47
hair-free pet bedding and washing machines. Now, Milo, our cat, has our own little blanket
6:53
She doesn't always sleep on that blanket. She sleeps all over the house and throws and, you know
6:58
anything that we've got lying around. And she is, she's a ginger cat and she's got quite thick
7:04
fur and she moulds a lot. So, you know, it's all over the house. But if I can keep it contained
7:10
to a throw or her pet bed and something that I can put in the washing machine, then all the better
7:16
but when you do that, all of the petey can sometimes clog your washing machine up and it's hard to get off
7:25
And I found this in B&M. I must have been using this for about four or five years as well
7:31
And you get three sashes in the pack. It looks like this
7:36
And it's just a powder. And you pour that into your washing machine
7:41
into your washing machine dispenser drawer. put your wet blanket in or the throw in. Don't put it in with other things. Don't put it in with your clothes
7:51
Put it in on its own or any other things that have got pet hair on. Put it on a short hot wash and honestly that is really, really good
8:00
It smells nice. Obviously it's pet friendly because it is for pet hair and it doesn't clog your washing machine up
8:08
So yeah, I have bought this on repeat for probably the last four or five years. Definitely recommend that
8:14
you've got a cat or a dog. I don't know if hamsters and guinea pigs
8:18
mold as well, but maybe you want to try it for those two
8:23
And the last cleaning product that I buy regularly is the washing machine cleaner. This is a
8:31
detol one, antibacterial washing machine cleaner. And there's usually two shots. You get two goes
8:37
in one of these bottles. I think they're only a couple of pound And you just pour half of it into your washing machine dispenser run your washing machine empty on a short hot wash and it makes your washing machine clean and it makes it smell nice
8:55
I think you get a build-up of things once you've done washing for quite a while
8:59
The washing machine starts to smell and maybe not quite as nice. And this is a lemon breeze one and that is really good
9:06
It makes the washing machine smell fantastic. And you can use a little bit of the liquid
9:10
just put it on a damp cloth and just wipe the inside of your washing machine door with it
9:15
That works on that as well. I do prefer the detal one
9:19
I have used this one, which is a fabulosa one, and I know you can get this in lots of different scents
9:25
That to me doesn't smell as nice or do as good a job is what the detal one does
9:31
But it's going to be personal preference. You know, try both and see which one you like
9:35
But for me, I prefer the detal and the lemon breeze is just lovely
9:40
When you open the washing machine door, that's all you can smell. That is really nice
9:44
There was one of the product I wanted to mention that isn't an actual cleaning product
9:50
but it does help you keep your floor clean. And this is the mighty magic mat
9:58
And I got this from Home Bargans. And I was very skeptical when I bought it because it said it'll, you know
10:04
it'll soak up everything on your feet and it'll keep your floor clean
10:08
And it was only $4.99. and it's just this little door mat and I thought
10:13
2499 we'll give it a try I was absolutely gobsmacked it really does work
10:18
I mean we've had some really heavy rain and we've got quite a light coloured
10:23
floor in our kitchen so when we come through the French doors
10:26
you know wipe your feet on the mats that we used to use
10:30
you'd still get footprints all over the kitchen this mighty magic mat
10:35
honestly you step in the door wipe your feet there's no footprints
10:41
Honestly, I highly recommend the mighty magic mat. I'm not affiliated to any of these products
10:47
Nobody's asked us to say these things. These are all my honest opinions
10:51
I highly recommend that mat. I think it is brilliant. And you can put it in the washing machine as well
10:57
So, fantastic. Now, I bought something recently at B&M and this is
11:03
the natural home wooden handle blind duster and it was £3.50 and that's what it looks like
11:11
I love the handle on it. It is a really nice wooden handle and it's got these
11:16
they're quite soft to these bristles and there is like four of them
11:21
so you're supposed to be able to do multiple slats of your blind at once
11:27
I've only bought this last week and I tried it. I'm not impressed
11:32
I don't know whether I'm supposed to spray like a polish or a cleaner
11:37
now onto it first and then do on the blinds or just use it on its own
11:43
If you've tried something like this, let us know what I'm supposed to be doing with it
11:49
And also, it's quite deep. So I'm not sure if you're supposed to angle it down or up on your blinds
11:58
Because if you put it straight in, this bit is hitting your windows
12:04
And it's not going, obviously your blinds aren't going right to the, right? to the end. So I'm really not sure how you're supposed to use that. So I'm not impressed with it
12:15
but it was only £3.50. So I haven't wasted a lot of money if it's rubbish. But if you're using
12:20
something like that, please let us know in the comments below how you use it. I know that seems
12:24
stupid, but simple things sometimes perplex. So next we're going to go on to motivational tips
12:32
to get the cleaning done. Because if you're anything like me, you'll be sitting and you'll be
12:37
thinking and yes I really need to hover this floor or really need to do this dust and dust and
12:41
driving me mad. There's just as soon as we dusted there's more dust. If you've got any tips
12:47
for getting rid of dust, let us know because it honestly drives me up the wall. But these are me
12:54
motivational tips if you really can't be bothered to do it. The first thing is what was something I do
13:01
definitely If I know I going to clean the bedroom or I going to do the sitting room or something like that I listen to something a podcast an audio book some music I listen to something while I doing it
13:14
And what I normally do is I'll get an audio book. It's normally non-fiction
13:18
and I will only listen to this book when I'm cleaning. So if it's a really good book
13:24
and I've stopped like after the first two chapters when I've been cleaning because I've finished the cleaning
13:29
I'll be keen to do more cleaning so I can listen to more of
13:34
the book. So that is my first tip. I also listen to podcasts as well, but the book thing I do find
13:41
works quite well with me because I'd be keen to get back into the book, so I'd be happy to do any
13:46
cleaning. The second tip is don't try and tackle the whole house at once. We've done that before
13:53
and it's just you think, gosh, I wish hadn't started this. So what we tend to do is we'll pick
13:58
one room of the house because Warren does help. We'll pick one room of the house and we'll
14:04
that room and then we'll say we'll do the next room another day or we might do all of the hoovering
14:09
and all of the dust in one day and then anything else that needs to be done will come on another
14:16
day. Third tip is designate. If you can get out of doing it, designate it to somebody else. That's
14:23
even better. Some people love cleaning. Some people hate it. You know, if you're the person in
14:29
the house that loves cleaning, then yeah, that's fine. But if the other person in the house
14:34
house prefers to clean, let them do it, get the grandkids round, pay them a couple of pound
14:39
to dust or get the hoover out. Obviously, if that old enough to do it, you don't want toddlers
14:44
doing it really because I think that'll hinder more than help. Give yourself a day or a time to do it
14:51
So don't just, you know, say, okay, I'm going to do the cleaning now, I think, or I'll leave it later
14:58
Actually put something in your day where you just say right on a Wednesday morning or a Saturday afternoon
15:02
that's when I'm going to do, I'm going to clean the windows or that's when I'm going to hoover the house or something like that
15:09
If you've got it planned in your diary, you know it's coming up, then you might be more likely to do it
15:14
That's the theory anyway. If you're really struggling to get motivated to get started cleaning, my fifth tip is watch some cleaning videos on YouTube
15:25
That can sometimes really motivate you to want to do it. Just searching YouTube for, you know, clean with me
15:32
or spring cleaning, anything like that, and you will find a huge amount of videos
15:38
where you can watch people do the cleaning. And sometimes watching somebody do something
15:43
that you're not keen on doing, makes you want to do it as well, especially if they're doing it well
15:47
and they're looking happy doing it. So I highly recommend that if you're really struggling to get started
15:53
find a motivational cleaning video to watch and then you'll want to get up and do it
15:58
And my sixth motivational cleaning tip is does it really need to be done
16:04
Honestly, if you don't dust the house this week, is the world going to end
16:09
No, it's not. I don't think any cleaning jobs, well, maybe, I mean, we've got a cat
16:16
so obviously the cat litter needs doing, but mostly cleaning jobs can be left
16:23
You know, they're not vitally important. I know some people get a little bit on edge
16:27
if something's not cleaned in the house, but I'm a bit like
16:31
if everything's tidy, I'm happy. It's only when I can start to see the windows
16:38
I've got smudges on them, or I can see the dust on top of a piece of furniture
16:43
then I really have the urge to do it. But if it doesn't need doing
16:47
if it's not really vitally important, then just leave it and find something more interesting to do
16:53
Honestly, the world's not going to end. So remember to go across and watch Marie, Maria and Tina
16:59
and say what cleaning videos they've got for you. Who knows one of them might actually be doing some cleaning
17:06
I didn't think of actually maybe he's cleaning something while I was doing this video
17:12
And I thought, no, I don't want to do that. So I hope you found that interesting, my cleaning products that I buy regularly and my motivational tips
17:20
I hope that motivated you. If you have any tips, let me know in the comments below
17:25
So that's all I've got for you this Sunday. I will see you again soon
17:29
much for watching and bye for now
