So what am I doing with natural yoghurt, turmeric and honey
0:20
No, I'm not cooking. I'm going to make myself a face mask
0:24
Hi everyone, it's Karen from the Jodie Grandma. Welcome back to my channel. And as always on a Sunday morning, this is a collaboration with Marie from Busy by Marie, Maria from Maria Crocker and Tina from Tina's Talk Time
0:37
So once you've seen my video, you can go across and see theirs as well
0:43
Now today, as you've just heard, we're making DIY beauty products. We're continuing with the focus on yourself theme that we've got going this February
0:55
It's always good to treat yourself and treating your skin is very important as well, especially in this cold winter weather
1:05
You kind of out in it's really windy or it's really cold and your face gets dry
1:11
You're in the house and the central heating's on. All of these things aren't good for the skin
1:16
Now, yes, you can get a face mask from the shop. You know, we go and buy one, but they've got tons of different ingredients in
1:23
and you're really not sure what you're putting on your skin. I know a lot of the face masks that I've picked up
1:28
I can hardly read the ingredients on the back of the prints that small
1:32
So I thought I would have a browse and see what face masks I could make myself
1:38
We're all going to be doing something different so you won be watching four videos of face masks We all chosen something else to do but I chose face masks So I was browsing the internet and I came across this article on Platinum magazine for making
1:52
your own face masks. Now, they had lots of different options for face masks
1:57
They had some for it to make your skin glow, some to brighten your skin, some to hydrate your
2:05
skin, and some to get rid of the effects of pollution. So there's something for everybody in there
2:10
I will link to the article in the description box below if you want to go across and have a look for yourself
2:16
So I decided to choose the one for brightening the skin and the three ingredients they said to choose
2:22
was turmeric, honey and yoghurt. Now the turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties in it
2:30
Apparently it's anti-aging. It helps reduce acne and it brightens the skin
2:36
Now I don't have acne. My skin actually isn't that bad but during the winter it does feel like it needs a little bit bright and sometimes I feel like I'm
2:43
a little bit dull. Now the honey has antibacterial properties which helps even the skin tone and it
2:50
moisturises as well and the yoghut, the lactic acid helps to exfoliate the skin and apparently it
2:57
boosts collagen and it helps to prevent wrinkles. So all of those ingredients sound really good and
3:03
they're probably something you have in the house that are ready to hand that you can just get out
3:08
and give it a mix up. So I have already done the face mask
3:12
So I'll put that part of the video in now so you can see what I did
3:17
So we're going to mix together a tablespoon of honey. It says you use manuka honey
3:23
if you've got it, but there's no way I'm paying for that. So we've got a tablespoon of that honey
3:28
A tablespoon of turmeric and a tablespoon of natural yoghurt And we going to mix those together
3:40
So there it is mixed up. I'm not going to taste it
3:44
And then I'm going to spread it onto my face. I'm going to avoid the eye socket
3:56
It actually smells quite nice. There's probably enough in here for, I'd say, two or three face masks and it says if you can keep it, it says you can keep it in the fridge for a few days
4:13
So you could do a couple in one week I suppose. Any longer than that than you would, I would imagine you have to throw it out and put a little bit down on
4:28
my neck as well. And now I'm going to sit back and relax for 15 to 20 minutes with two pieces of cucumber
4:42
on my eyes as well. That was 15 minutes. The face mask has dried on my face and I'd forgotten how nice it was to have cucumber slices
4:58
on my eyes actually. I think I've got a bit of the turmeric on my eyelid. So now I'm going to go
5:05
and wash it off. So I've just washed it off. Got water all over my t-shirt. My skin actually
5:11
feels really lovely It feels very clean and soft And I think it does look a little bit brighter And my eyes feel lovely with having that cucumber on but I think that because they were in the fridge
5:26
and anything cold on your eyes is going to make you feel more awake
5:30
so yeah I'm quite chuffed with that I'll definitely use that again
5:38
so that was my turmeric honey and natural yoghut face mask don't make the mistake
5:44
of using a fruit yoghut It has to be a natural yoghurt. I did enjoy the experience
5:50
It was very simple to make up, obviously, just a spoonful of each and mix it up
5:54
And it did feel really, really good after I'd taken it off
5:58
It did. It tingled a little bit when I had it on my skin
6:02
And it does, it kind of goes into a paste and it starts to dry on your skin
6:07
I left it on for 15 minutes. And I definitely feel like there's a difference
6:14
My skin feels really. smooth and I do feel like I've got a little bit of a glow to it as well. I don't think you
6:22
would really get the full effect until mebbies used it a few times to see if it was going
6:27
to make a difference so I definitely think I'll do that. Now remember to go across and watch
6:32
Marie Maria and Tina's videos and see what DIY beauty products they're doing I'd be
6:38
interested to see. I think we can all use a little bit of skin pampering especially on this
6:45
Focus on Yourself month. We'll be back next Sunday with another focus on yourself topic
6:50
I'm not sure what it's going to be yet, but I'm sure it'll be something fun. So let me know in the comments below
6:56
If you've tried a DIY face mask, I'd love to know what you did and what you thought of it
7:01
I'm open to new ideas. Thank you so much for watching. I'll see you again soon
