Hi, I'm behind the camera today
0:08
We are putting in row covers, a hoop cover for our garden for the winter
0:16
We just wanted to do it a cheap way. And so we wanted to share this with you because this is a really cheap way to do it
0:24
And everything's reusable. You can redo it next year. You can move it to a different area of your garden, whatever you want to do
0:33
He is putting down half inch, 18 inch, rebar. Our bed is eight feet long and four feet wide
0:42
And so we put two on the ends and then went in two and a half feet from each end and put another one
0:48
And of course I say we loosely. But so that gives us a pretty good base to put the plastic over
0:58
he got some furrings down here that we put on the side we take pictures and more videos as we go along it really fast to do um we just started and he already got two of the hoops in there
1:15
We're by doing this, we don't get a lot of extended cold weather, but by doing this we can prolong the life of the garden and it lowers it by a whole gardening zone
1:32
for every layer of covered that you put on your garden or in your greenhouse you lower by a garden zone and so um you're supposed to put um one layer if you put two then leave um no more than a three eighths gap between those uh too much more than that and you can have freezing uh less than that you won't have enough airspace but we don't get cold enough here to do that so we're
2:02
We're just going to lower our garden zone by one by putting on these row covers
2:06
And I mean, he's already got three done. And I like doing this video because he's doing it and I'm watching
2:12
So I not actually having to do any of the work But we take pictures and another video as we go along and we just wanted to share with you what we doing And this is October 31st so we won have a frost for a couple more weeks but we just wanted to go ahead
2:28
What you see growing there is that bell pepper that is just still really producing
2:34
So we're actually going to just top her out and leave her in there and see how long she'll go
2:39
You see spinach and broccoli and cauliflower and mustards, the pumpkin's still growing, okra's still growing
2:45
So we got to still have a lot going on in the garden. There's our English peas over there
2:51
So we are, I guess I better get to work now. See you next time
2:58
Okay, so this is our container gardens that I have my carrots and some mustards, some radishes
3:05
a couple of turnip greens just because I wanted to see how they do in there. And then this right one here hasn't been planted
3:10
But we went every two and a half feet. It was almost 10 feet long
3:16
The square that we wanted to be around this. So we put rebar in the ground
3:23
And now we getting ready to do our PVC pipe That is 40 What is that called Spec 40 Schedule 40 Schedule 40 PVC half inch Yep
3:38
Um, eight feet long? Or 10 feet? Pardon me? 10 feet long. Okay
3:46
And then you see our fur rings that we did there. And so that's what we're getting ready to do here to the cover up our container garden section
3:55
And we'll give up, when we're done, we'll give a full price breakdown just, you know, so we'll know that we're done and everything will be included in that for you
