What is the US Code of Laws? Well simply put this is just an assembly of all
0:07
existing federal statutes in the United States. Now it's a compendium and it was
0:13
first assembled in 1926 and it's assembled by a group called the Office of
0:19
Law Revision Council for the US House of Representatives. So they take the
0:24
statutes that are passed pursuant to acts before Congress. So Congress signs off
0:30
on and passes an act, the president ratifies it and it goes into law. Now the
0:34
individual laws that come out of that act, the individual statutes that are
0:40
proposed as part of the act and thus passed are then assembled into what is
0:46
called slip laws and these are compiled once again for record in the U.S
0:51
government, but for ease of access and use, the Office of Law Revision Council of the
0:58
U.S. House of Representatives assembles these SLEP laws into an easily organized and accessible
1:05
compendium, and that's the U.S. Code of Laws, okay? There are 53 titles
1:11
You'll see 54, but the 53rd title is reserved, so there's actually 53 titles that cover broad
1:17
areas of law, and then of course it's subdivided extensively to develop further upon the individual
1:25
areas of law that fall under that main or broad area. So in summary, the U.S. Code of Laws is just a compilation of the existing federal statutes
