Neat Socket sent me their 8 foot power strip, so today I want to give my first impressions of these
0:04
So inside the box, we're going to have the 8 foot power strip as well as other accessories, which include these plastic pieces and these adhesives
0:12
There's going to be three regular outlets and two USB-C ports. So I was pretty surprised at the size of the cover because this actually looks pretty big
0:19
but that's good because that means it's going to cover up the outlet very well
0:23
So I just want to test it out on this one over here. And so this is only going to fit on the top part
0:28
And there that's how it covers it up. But of course, it's not going to match over here. So I want to change this
0:34
I want to change locations for a white wall instead Which is right under my desk because right here
0:38
I have a power surge that comes right off and currently we don't have a cap on it
0:42
So it looks pretty ugly. So using this would just make it look a lot cleaner
0:48
Just like that and this power strip just gives the place a cleaner aesthetic and it also matches a lot better with the white on the wall
0:54
because the current strip we're using is going to be this off white. It's kind of like a cream color
0:59
And although it does its job, it just doesn't look very neat behind this, especially considering that we don't have
1:06
you know the plate cover over here So we have a few outlets that look like this And in case you curious if it fits on here or not it does not fit here because the switch is going to be in the way So this can go back in here since it going to be much more useful behind my desk
1:17
And I can probably just switch out that one for my old one because in the end, even though I have
1:22
this long power strip, I'm only using two of the plugs. One, two, and there's going to be three. So
1:28
I'm going to have an extra one that I can go ahead and charge something else. I'll just have to remove
1:32
this old one and stick it onto here. So I ended up switching out the old power surge and then
1:36
installing the neat socket one. I also used adhesive on the back to stick it onto here
1:42
And I was able to use all three sockets. I have it for the monitor, for my MacBook to charge
1:47
and for the Mac mini underneath. So now all I have left are going to be two USB-A ports to charge
1:53
let's say like a phone or anything. And the plastic bits ended up being pieces to organize
1:59
the cables and so I organized them as neat as I could up top here just to prevent it from slacking
2:05
as much but yeah overall I'm pretty happy with the neat socket it makes the desk area look a lot
2:09
cleaner so I just have to figure out this and I should be fine I should probably just put it a
2:15
little bit neater but yeah that's a quick look at the neat socket power strip
