good morning good morning uh the other
0:02
day uh Jaylen Washington finished with
0:04
18 points and after the game he was
0:06
actually critical of himself for his
0:08
defense but how pleased were you with
0:10
his assertiveness when he got the ball
0:12
because he got to the rim a lot was able
0:14
to finish a lot and did you see that
0:16
think that maybe he took a step forward
0:18
with being assertive around the basket
0:20
being able to finish
0:21
more well I do think he was um really
0:25
effective for us and it really helped us
0:28
being able to
0:30
uh score around the basket I always say
0:32
that you know I want to dominate points
0:34
in the paint through post and
0:35
penetration and you know his ability to
0:38
be able to finish around the basket um
0:42
was huge for us to stay in the game
0:44
against Boston College and ultimately uh
0:48
be able to pull out that win and so
0:52
um I was really proud of him from that
0:55
standpoint and um you know just a
0:59
consistent of of being able to finish
1:02
around the basket and be a a low post
1:05
presence for us is just really huge and
1:08
um he came up big for us against Boston
1:10
College you've talked a lot about his
1:13
path obviously being slowed because of
1:15
the injuries are there some areas of his
1:17
game that maybe we won't see that has
1:19
been consistently getting better the
1:21
last couple of months when he's since
1:22
he's getting a lot more playing time and
1:25
pretty and pretty comfortable with his
1:27
physical situation yeah I you know I he
1:29
can really shoot the basketball he's
1:31
only made one three that was against
1:33
wake fars towards the end of the game
1:36
you know that's a an area for us
1:38
offensively that can make us even better
1:42
like having a five that can pick and pop
1:45
and knock down consistently from three
1:48
it just opens up the spacing even more
1:51
for us to put the ball on the floor to
1:53
drive to attack and
1:55
so um again he's only hit one this year
1:59
but I mean he can really shoot the
2:01
basketball and so my hope is that some
2:03
point this year he can get on a roll uh
2:05
shooting the ball from the outside and
2:08
uh being able to knock down multiple
2:09
threes in a game thank you appreciate it
2:13
yeah go to Jeremiah
2:15
Holloway yeah good morning Hubert good
2:17
to see you um wanted to ask about Seth
2:21
Trimble obviously had the you know 43
2:23
minutes and overtime game back in the
2:24
starting lineup things like that ends up
2:26
with the the double double I know after
2:29
the the Cal game we were asking about
2:31
you know him getting back to you know
2:32
feeling like himself but from a
2:35
conditioning standpoint do you feel he's
2:36
kind of back to where he was you know
2:38
pre-concussion before he before he went
2:41
out I think um Rhythm wise he you know
2:45
it he's he's a lot closer to where he
2:48
was prior
2:49
to um him sitting out two and a half
2:52
weeks um you know two and a half weeks
2:55
is two and a half weeks it's just it's
2:57
not easy just to come back and just
3:00
get back into the flow I I you know Seth
3:03
is just one of those players that can
3:04
just has the ability to make an impact
3:07
in so many different areas and so yeah
3:10
he was able to score for us especially
3:12
down down the stretch he can knock down
3:15
free throws and you know for him to get
3:18
12 rebounds I you
3:22
know he's just one of those guys that
3:25
can just impact a game in so many
3:28
different areas and he was able to do
3:29
that against Boston College and without
3:31
him we don't even have a chance to
3:35
win uh Michael
3:37
co uh good morning Hubert um when you
3:40
look at Pittsburgh they had a great
3:42
start to the season then they dropped
3:44
four straight games um and now they've
3:46
gotten back uh on in the win column what
3:49
was it about them that uh gave them that
3:52
hot start to the season and what still
3:54
makes them a dangerous team uh going
3:56
into tomorrow
3:58
night well I mean there they're just a
4:00
really good team I mean um coach cable
4:03
does a great job coaching them uh
4:05
they're very tough they're very
4:08
physical um defensively um um you know
4:13
they can do a number of things
4:14
defensively on the ball they're really
4:16
good on the ball um a key to them is
4:19
rebounding you know when they rebound
4:21
well that puts them in a position to be
4:24
successful um but you know from an
4:27
offensive standpoint they've got a
4:28
number of guys that can get hot from
4:31
three um you know they've got guards
4:34
that just with the ball whether it's
4:36
oneon-one pick and roll situation can
4:38
create shots not only for themselves but
4:41
for their teammates they're a really
4:43
good basketball team uh it it's a pit
4:46
team skilled tough competitive and
4:50
that's what it will be tomorrow night at
4:51
9 900
4:53
PM thanks
4:55
you uh Jared
4:57
depala thank you good morning uh you
5:00
guys had a very difficult non-conference
5:02
schedule how do you think that has
5:03
helped your team develop and grow now
5:06
that you're in the
5:08
ACC well I mean you know the the
5:11
non-conference schedule that we played I
5:13
mean we we've seen it all um so you know
5:17
there's nothing in
5:19
conference that we should be surprised
5:22
at in in regards to an individual and as
5:26
a team and so um
5:29
us being able to have success against
5:33
those really good teams and for us to um
5:38
to barely fall short gives us the
5:40
experience of what it takes to be able
5:45
um to compete and beat good teams on a
5:48
consistent basis and so that's just
5:50
going to be huge for us the remainder of
5:51
the ACC is how consistent can we be how
5:56
consistent can we be offensively taking
5:59
good shots taking care of the basketball
6:01
how consistent can we be
6:04
defensively um getting stops rebounding
6:07
and defending without fouling that's
6:09
just it just is what it is that's just
6:11
going to be the key for us our
6:15
consistency uh Adam Smith go ahead
6:18
sir Hubert good morning good morning
6:21
good morning uh you I I know you've like
6:25
tweaked the starting lineup a couple
6:26
times this season that's that's no
6:28
secret or anything and I'm asking not in
6:32
in terms of pit but just in a general
6:34
sense moving forward do you think that's
6:36
something that you might look at as as
6:39
something more fluid just in terms of
6:41
matchups game by game like different
6:44
opponents and how you might stack up
6:46
against them is that something that
6:47
could be I don't know more of a a flu
6:50
fluid thing moving forward do you think
6:52
no that's what it
6:54
is it is it's a fluid situation you know
6:57
it's uh it's it's
7:00
matchups um matchups in in regards to
7:03
starting the game the
7:06
rotations
7:07
um you know it it is a fluid situation
7:13
um it's not fluid in some positions but
7:17
in other positions it is fluid and it's
7:21
uh all determined really on the rhythm
7:25
of us and and and just the matchups in
7:29
ter terms of who we're playing and so
7:32
um every game I look at it that way
7:35
there you know there there isn't going
7:37
to be a set five it it it will be
7:39
determined by matchups and how guys are
7:42
playing and rotations there's a number
7:44
of factors that'll go into um who starts
7:48
the game and probably what you're
7:50
sensing too with all of that you mean
7:52
right yeah yeah it is it really is thank
7:56
you appreciate it yeah no problem Adam
7:59
uh go to
8:00
Jeremiah yeah Huber just a quick one
8:03
here one uh you know thing you said
8:05
after the game the other day was you put
8:08
ta Claud in for a little bit and you
8:09
said he his energy kind of changed uh
8:12
you know the the complexion of the game
8:13
or just the energy for your team
8:15
obviously he's a guy that's been around
8:17
the college game you know for a long
8:18
time just what do he like in practice as
8:21
a teammate like what kind of energy does
8:23
he bring you know behind the scen yeah
8:25
you know that's just him he he he brings
8:27
that practice shoot around um he brings
8:32
that in the locker room and um the
8:35
guys love being around him love playing
8:38
with him and
8:40
love teasing him and joking him uh
8:43
joking with him um because he's the
8:46
oldest player on the team so you know
8:48
couple of guys call him Grandpa and just
8:50
different stuff like that that gets him
8:52
going uh but he did you know
8:56
his his instinctive energy and
9:00
effort um is something that this
9:04
group um has needed on a daily basis and
9:09
um so glad that he's here this season
9:12
and he played really well in the five
9:15
minutes against um Boston College it
9:17
were it was huge minutes for us get one
9:20
last Quick one in from Rod
9:24
Baxley Hubert um obviously you guys had
9:27
had started to put things together
9:29
defense defensively before Saturday what
9:31
were some of the defensive issues you
9:33
noticed when you guys went to watch the
9:35
film and what were those conversations
9:37
like with the guys as you were going
9:39
through that well they weren't
9:41
conversations it was it was it was a
9:43
monologue by me and um when you said
9:48
what kind of issues it was
9:50
everything um ball pressure half court
9:54
out of bounds underneath in
9:56
transition guarding one-on-one guarding
9:59
in the post disciplined stand down for
10:01
shot fakes boxing out getting through
10:05
screens talking and communicating there
10:08
was a departure of all of that against
10:10
Boston College and
10:17
um I'm not sure why and so I'm very
10:21
thankful that we were able to pull it
10:24
together and down the stretch make the
10:27
plays that we needed to make
10:29
in order to win against a Boston College
10:32
team that played extremely well and
10:35
we're very fortunate enough to come away
10:37
with the
10:38
win thanks Huber appreciate it okay
10:41
thank you guys yeah Hubert thank you
10:43
much appreciated saav today all right
10:45
thank you
