coaching 70 to 69 with 5 minutes left
0:03
they out SC you guys 131 look a lot like
0:06
Florida how do you the Florida game
0:09
where they closed against you guys as
0:10
well very similar how do you fix the
0:13
situation where teams were able to close
0:15
on you like like they had in a couple of
0:16
games also Kansas was like that as well
0:19
well I I think it was 70 to 69 and I
0:22
think we uh fouled a three-pointer that
0:24
put it up four we missed a shot uh um
0:30
I feel
0:31
like couple of our players maybe have
0:34
fallen down and then they came back in
0:35
transition
0:37
and
0:39
um rain hit a three and so that put it
0:42
up seven you know and I I've been
0:46
straightforward and direct and you know
0:48
um throughout the entire game but
0:49
especially in you know late game
0:52
situations four minutes to go like the
0:54
discipline and details just have to be
0:56
there I mean you've got to defensively
0:58
you got to get stopped you got to defend
1:00
without fouling you've got to box out
1:02
you've got to get loose balls uh
1:05
offensively you have to execute and when
1:07
I mean execute it's not just I'm not
1:10
talking about just being able to score
1:12
in those situations it's also the stuff
1:14
that sets up the shot the the screen the
1:17
being in the right spot um setting the
1:20
screen setting your man up going to the
1:23
offensive glass different stuff like
1:25
that that um we just got to get better
1:28
at and more consistent
1:33
at comes to I guess you know games like
1:35
this where
1:37
sorry um yeah games like this where you
1:40
guys of course you know overcome a
1:42
double figure deficit and you know kind
1:44
of get it down even close to onepoint
1:47
game tie things like that do you feel
1:49
that that kind of wears on a team over
1:52
time you know having the storm back and
1:53
then when the game's close having to
1:55
like you said be discipline like that
1:58
down the stret I don't think
2:00
this game was similar to other other
2:03
games earlier in the year I don't you
2:05
know I
2:07
don't again I just initially it didn't
2:11
seem you know those other games we were
2:13
down 16 or 18 I don't think we were that
2:17
way in the second half at all felt like
2:18
we were always two or three possessions
2:21
away the entire game it got away towards
2:25
the end but I felt like we were right
2:26
there throughout the entire game and
2:29
again you know we got
2:31
it again I I think we were tied we
2:34
missed a couple shots to take the lead
2:36
we were down by one missed a couple
2:38
shots to take the lead and so um we had
2:41
our
2:43
chances cuber earlier than than been the
2:46
stretch run of the game what did you
2:48
feel like were some of the defensive
2:49
issues that were tripping you guys up
2:52
before you you meant like at the
2:54
beginning of the game or earlier in the
2:56
game like they're getting lo you getting
2:58
mixed up on your switch
3:00
getting these lobs to the cup um it
3:02
wasn't getting U mixed up in switches um
3:05
uh I would say in large part in the
3:07
first half and we we had talked about it
3:10
we had known it that uh they're really
3:11
good in transition even after a maid
3:13
shot got us Sprint back with the sense
3:15
of emergency you've got to talk um we
3:19
struggled uh picking up in transition
3:22
off of uh even off of made baskets in
3:25
the first half you talked about the lobs
3:28
off the uh ball screen with heurn he did
3:31
a really good job of keeping our guards
3:33
on his backside can't allow that to
3:36
happen have to work harder uh to be able
3:38
to square him up and also there's got to
3:40
be a low guy there for those lobs there
3:42
and make him spray it to the other side
3:44
and at the beginning of the game we
3:45
struggle to be in that right
3:48
position Rick I think you guys only had
3:51
31 in the first half one of your lowest
3:53
scoring halfs of the Season what was
3:55
Louisville doing defensively to to slow
3:58
you guys down
4:06
um I don't know if they were doing
4:09
anything defensively that was slowing us
4:11
down I mean they're they were very
4:13
physical um I thought in the first half
4:17
our shot selection could have been
4:18
better I felt like there was
4:20
opportunities where we were open to take
4:23
the shot I felt like there was
4:24
opportunities that we could attack the
4:25
basket and I felt like there were
4:28
opportunities where we attacked the
4:29
vasin instead of going strong we kind of
4:31
double pumped in the lane and missed a
4:34
number of layups whether it's at the
4:36
post or penetration and so
4:39
um I don't know what we went to the free
4:42
throw line in the first
4:44
half six of seven six or seven there was
4:48
a reason you know you got to go strong
4:50
and I felt like we did that better in
4:51
the second half and that allowed us to
4:53
get into the penalty and allowed us to
4:54
get to the free throw line couple
4:57
more see ger kind of figing backing off
5:00
that hbert uh how disruptive is Chu have
5:03
earned when he's kind of being given
5:06
that on ball pressure on someone try to
5:09
initiate well I mean he's a he he he is
5:12
a he's a two-way player um defensively
5:15
on the ball he's real and we've played
5:17
against a number of great on ball
5:20
Defenders uh not you know he's somebody
5:23
that that wants that type of challenge
5:25
he's got great hands he does a really
5:27
good job of uh getting steals into
5:29
deflections uh contesting without
5:32
fouling he's very physical he's gifted
5:35
defensively and uh he disrupts a lot of
5:38
things uh on the defensive end and um
5:41
allows them to play very aggressive on
5:42
the defensive end jeremi you I think one
5:45
of the things you were talking about um
5:47
offensively a little bit ago was kind of
5:48
guys setting each other up and you
5:50
mentioned screens kind of being one of
5:52
those things I guess from a off ball
5:54
standpoint uh you know what do you think
5:56
can change I guess when it comes to you
5:58
know guys kind of setting those offall
6:00
screens getting each other looks and and
6:02
things like that and just kind of how
6:03
would you evaluate I guess the way in
6:05
which you guys have been doing that so
6:06
far yeah I mean I I'd like to watch the
6:10
game over again uh to be able to really
6:12
answer that question I just you know
6:15
again you know give credit to Louisville
6:19
they they were very physical and us
6:22
coming off those screens and setting
6:24
screens and um
6:29
you know it's just a chance and an
6:30
opportunity for us to get better and to
6:32
grow um you
6:38
know let's recognize it let it let's
6:41
admit it let's learn from it and grow
6:42
from it and get ready to go on Saturday
6:44
last two Adam
6:46
Andrew do you have any update on on set
6:49
Trimble was he closer to playing tonight
6:51
I don't have an
6:53
update
6:57
Andrew go back to where jerem asking
6:59
about about the screens where is your
7:02
team as far as screen especially the
7:03
bigs are they setting the kind of
7:05
screens you want and if they're if there
7:08
there's a lot of moving screen files
7:09
that you guys get called how does that
7:11
kind of affect this the shots that some
7:13
of you guys are getting when the screens
7:15
maybe AR as solid as they need to be
7:18
well I I don't specifically want to
7:20
speak in regards to any one of our
7:22
players or group of players we just um
7:26
it it's not just screens it's just you
7:29
know it's everything in terms of
7:30
execution down the stretch
7:35
um you know that we just got to get
7:37
better at and we just got to we have to
7:40
continue to improve and so one of the
7:42
areas that we have um haven't been as
7:45
consistent has been late in games and
7:48
that's something that's just going to
7:49
have to change the remainder of the
7:51
Season thanks coach yeah thanks everyone
