You want some water? Are you good?
0:27
Need a pen. Are you good?
0:28
>> I'm good.
0:28
>> Okay.
0:30
Okay, questions
0:39
>> front row.
0:44
Dan Toro, wakeup calld.com. Henry, I
0:46
mean, it it looks like you it felt like
0:49
you made about six threes toward the end
0:51
of the game. just bring me into the way
0:53
that you played on the outside, trusting
0:54
in your shot and getting this team from
0:56
what was an 18-point deficit down to
0:58
one.
0:59
>> I mean, we're just playing as a team,
1:01
just trying to be aggressive. I know
1:03
they play long possession, so I knew we
1:05
kind of had to go do quick offense
1:07
because otherwise the clock was going to
1:09
run out before we go get there.
1:12
Yeah, just really trying to be
1:13
aggressive, trying to make the get the
1:15
best shot, get our early shot that and
1:17
then fight as hard as we can for
1:18
offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds,
1:20
trying to just get us back into the game
1:22
cuz obviously we have to dig ourselves
1:23
in a big hole in the second half, first
1:26
half. So, we had to kind of we play
1:28
desperate, but we play good when we're
1:30
desperate. So, I think we just kind of
1:32
keep that mindset whenever we go into
1:33
next games and into March.
1:37
>> Back to the rim.
1:41
Yeah, Henry, how has your role sort of
1:44
changed without Caleb? Obviously, sort
1:46
of being the number one option, a lot of
1:47
the offense is running through you. Have
1:48
you had to change the way you prepare
1:50
for games or or the way you play or the
1:51
way you kind of um pace yourself in
1:53
games as well?
1:55
>> Uh
1:57
I don't really think that has changed
1:59
much. I think there's just more
2:00
opportunity because obviously Caleb is
2:02
an amazing player and we miss him, but
2:05
but I'll say that I just have gotten
2:07
more opportunity. Obviously, he was an
2:08
aggressive player. He got a lot of the
2:10
shots. He got a lot of possession cuz he
2:11
deserves it by any chance. And I think
2:13
now just coming my way, so I'm going to
2:15
try to make the best I can from every
2:17
opportunity to give us a chance to win.
2:20
>> Third row in front of me.
2:21
>> Yeah, Kayen Reinhardt, Virginia Tech on
2:23
SI. Henry, you drew seven fouls tonight.
2:25
What went into you drawing that contact?
2:27
>> I think a big part of it was just the
2:29
we're trying to have an emphasis of
2:31
trying to go inside. I was just trying
2:32
to do what coach told me to do, trying
2:34
to get to the basket, trying to draw
2:36
fouls, trying to make contact first, be
2:38
physical, try to get to the rim. I think
2:40
that's a big part on offensive rebounds.
2:42
If we just go, we're going to get
2:44
offensive rebounds. They're going to
2:45
foul us because they're trying to grab
2:46
and hold because I think I'm more
2:48
athletic than most bigs. I can get
2:50
around them. Just trying to get a good
2:52
position and when I go up for it,
2:53
they're going to try to push me, foul
2:55
me. I think that's how you can draw
2:56
them.
2:59
>> Any other questions for Henry?
3:03
>> Okay, Henry, you can head back to the
3:05
locker room.
3:05
>> I'll wait. I can wait.
3:10
Okay, questions for coach.
3:15
>> Yeah, Aaron Beard with the AP. Hubert,
3:17
where do you think were the one or two
3:18
areas in particular this got away from
3:20
you guys to put you in the hole you guys
3:22
were in?
3:22
>> Yeah, just the um uh um inability to
3:26
respond uh to physicality. I felt like
3:29
it was the same thing uh uh Saturday of
3:33
last week. Um um and for most of the
3:38
game uh tonight um Clemson's always been
3:41
physical defensively. Um and one of the
3:45
things I always say is you never let a
3:47
defense dictate and decide how efficient
3:50
you are on the offensive end. And I felt
3:52
like their their physicality took us
3:55
took us out of our offense, took us off
3:57
of our cuts, our screens, our moves, and
4:01
didn't really respond to that until the
4:03
latter part of the second half. And then
4:05
also just, you know, and I've been
4:06
straightforward about, you know, for us
4:09
um to be a good team, we've, you know,
4:12
we just got to be good defensively. I've
4:14
said defense and rebounding and taking
4:16
care of the basketball. And so, you
4:17
know, when you allow a team to shoot 50%
4:20
from the field, especially this time of
4:22
the year against good teams, that's just
4:24
not a recipe for for um success.
4:28
>> Front row.
4:29
>> Coach, despite the loss tonight,
4:31
obviously more to play for in March.
4:34
What can you say to the strength of the
4:35
ACC overall and just what's happened
4:38
with the parody this year?
4:44
Yeah, I you know I I think that's a
4:46
great question. I just I'm not there.
4:50
I'm I'm here w with with our team and so
4:54
you know big big picture questions
4:56
that's it's not that I can't answer it.
4:59
I'm just not thinking about that right
5:00
now. I'm thinking about our team and um
5:03
thinking about these kids and
5:05
thinking about um the NCAA tournament
5:09
next week.
5:12
Hey, coach Tim Donnelly 999 the fan. Uh
5:14
Henry brought up that when you're when
5:16
you were down 18 played desperate and he
5:19
said you play good desperate.
5:21
>> Uh is that something you can
5:23
artificially create at the beginning of
5:25
a game? Something you can take into
5:26
March in the first half.
5:35
>> Yes.
5:44
specifically at uh talk to the team.
5:50
What is today? Thursday, Tuesday,
5:52
Wednesday, and today
5:59
about having that hunger and that
6:01
thirst. that hunger and that thirst to
6:04
compete, hunger and thirst to
6:08
to prepare, to practice,
6:11
hunger and thirst to play together as a
6:14
team and as a group as long as we can.
6:16
And so, um,
6:21
we've talked about that at great length.
6:24
front row to our left.
6:26
>> Coach Seth Trimble, just his leadership
6:28
that you've seen throughout the season,
6:30
what he's done, his resolve, and his
6:32
play as you move forward.
6:37
>> Well, yeah. I mean, Seth is um
6:41
one of our leaders on the team.
6:44
um
6:48
somebody that um should be celebrated
6:50
for obviously his
6:55
his career thus far.
6:58
But
6:59
being as accomplished as a player,
7:03
for him to be a four-year player,
7:07
committed to his team, committed to this
7:10
program, committed to this university
7:12
for four years is something, as I said
7:15
before, should be highlighted and
7:16
celebrated. And so, if you were to have
7:19
someone to lead a team, you would want
7:22
somebody that's been in the program for
7:23
a while. and and Seth definitely has
7:27
done that.
7:29
>> Right in front of me, coach.
7:30
>> Yeah, coach, just five points from your
7:32
bench tonight. Was there anything you
7:33
would have liked to seen to get them
7:34
more activated tonight?
7:36
>> Well, I think you know, Clemson's bench
7:39
um
7:41
was really good tonight. you know, they
7:44
had guys in there that really stepped
7:46
up. They talked defensively that we were
7:49
able to guard their actions, but it just
7:52
basically came down to could we guard
7:54
them whether it's in the post or the
7:55
perimeter.
7:57
Uh they took us one-on-one and for most
8:00
of the game they were we're able to
8:02
execute and able to score. So, at the
8:04
end of the day, it just comes down with
8:05
getting stops, finishing those
8:08
possessions with a rebound. And
8:11
the last couple games we haven't done
8:13
that consistently.
8:15
>> Okay. Thanks, coach.
8:16
>> Thank you. [snorts] next week.
