and um you know we played competitively
0:02
but then just couldn't sustain it. So,
0:04
obviously we have a lot of work to do.
0:06
Um, you know, we need to do a better job
0:08
all the way around coaching, playing,
0:11
uh, all three phases of the game. Just
0:13
wasn't up to what it needs to be and I
0:15
know we're a lot better than that. So,
0:17
uh, we'll need to, you know, need to
0:19
work on those things and and show it on
0:21
Saturday and turn around. But, um, you
0:24
know, give TCU credit. They came in and
0:26
did a good job and, um, they were
0:28
clearly a better team tonight. You know,
0:30
they deserve to win and and, uh, they
0:32
did it decisively.
0:34
right here. Uh,
0:35
coach Andrew Jones 24/7. When things
0:37
started to go bad quickly after you got
0:39
up seven nothing, what was the sense of
0:42
was there a sense of helplessness that
0:43
you couldn't stop it and what was maybe
0:45
the key sequence that you thought got
0:47
your team sort of off?
0:50
Yeah, multiple things. Um, you know,
0:53
anytime you give up two turnovers or
0:55
touchdowns offensively, that's not good.
0:57
We gave up several long plays on
0:59
defense, you know, where they gained a
1:00
lot of yards on one play. So, uh, just
1:04
just too many too many of those.
1:06
There wasn't any one thing. It was a
1:08
combination of multiple things. Too many
1:10
three and outs, too many long plays on
1:12
defense, and then two turnovers. Well,
1:14
we had three turnovers, two turnovers,
1:16
touchdowns. You can't overcome that.
1:18
Josh Granjs, given the short week now,
1:21
how much teaching can you do from this
1:24
video ahead of Saturday?
1:26
Yeah. Well, we'll, you know, use the
1:28
time best we can to, like I said,
1:29
correct the mistakes from last tonight
1:31
and and, uh, move on and then, you know,
1:33
get ready for Charlotte. So, you know,
1:34
they got a couple extra days here and,
1:37
um, you know, they came off a
1:38
disappointing game themselves, so you
1:39
know, we're both a little bit in the
1:40
same boat here. Um, but yeah, we got a
1:42
lot of work to do and, you know, we'll
1:44
get at it.
1:46
Back to Mil.
1:47
Hey, Coach Tra was on the side. Um, you
1:50
guys had a lot of missed tackles
1:52
tonight. How much of that has to do with
1:53
the the limited amount of time you had
1:55
to prepare for this game is when it
1:57
comes to tackle?
2:00
Um, yeah, we I mean, you said it. We got
2:02
to do a better job of tackling. There's
2:03
no doubt about that. And so, we're just
2:05
going to have to work harder on it,
2:07
tackle better. I mean, there's no secret
2:09
to it. There's no no pill you can take.
2:11
You just got to, you know, have tackle
2:13
better fundamentally and and get more
2:15
guys around the ball so we're not, you
2:16
know, so many tackles in space.
2:18
Back left.
2:19
Yeah. Jeremiah Hollow with Inside
2:21
Carolina. You alluded to it a little
2:23
bit, but after that first drive, it was
2:25
kind of struggle offensively to get
2:28
points on the board. What in particular
2:30
from your vantage point from the
2:31
sideline was TCU doing to kind of get
2:34
you guys out of the offensive?
2:36
Yeah, look, they just outplayed us. They
2:38
out coached us. I mean, they were just
2:40
better than we were tonight. That's all
2:41
there was to it. They controlled both
2:42
sides of the line of scrimmage. Um their
2:45
skilled players played well and you know
2:47
they they just they did a lot more
2:49
things right than we did. So you know
2:51
give them credit for being the better
2:52
team. They certainly deserve it.
2:54
Mac right Brian Murphy. Could you assess
2:58
how Gio Lopez played his status and if
3:00
you saw enough for Max that that job is
3:03
open.
3:05
Yeah we'll see how Gio is you know they
3:07
took him off took a look at him. Um you
3:08
know hopefully it's not too bad but
3:10
we'll see. Um you know give Max a lot of
3:12
credit. you know, he came in there
3:13
after, you know, being off for a long
3:14
time and, uh, you know, hung in there,
3:16
made some plays, you know, in a tough
3:17
situation. So, um, you know, give him a
3:20
lot of credit for what he did tonight,
3:21
but we'll take a look at it after we see
3:23
where things are at here and and go from
3:25
there. I don't know. It's too early to
3:27
tell now.
3:28
Right in front of your coach,
3:29
Deox.
3:31
What did the breakdowns after that first
3:32
drive happen in the run game offensive
3:34
to 31?
3:36
Uh, I mean there were multiple, you
3:38
know, biggest thing was we had trouble
3:39
getting off to the linebackers and, you
3:41
know, they just they float over the top.
3:43
We didn't get to them like we needed to
3:44
and um, we got beat in a couple
3:46
one-on-one situations and, you know, if
3:48
you don't make yards on first down, then
3:50
you're in second and third and long and
3:51
it just, you know, we end up with too
3:54
many three and outs there in that second
3:55
quarter. So, first down really helps you
3:58
a lot on second and third down. We just
3:59
didn't do a good enough job on first
4:00
down tonight.
4:02
Second row left
4:04
who's an observer. You you talked a lot
4:07
going into this about kind of trying to
4:09
figure out what you had and and what you
4:11
were building. Were you surprised at the
4:13
way things snowballed sort of in late in
4:16
the second quarter into the second half?
4:18
Well, we'll just keep working and keep
4:20
grinding away. Um well, we're better
4:22
than what we were tonight. So, but we
4:24
have to go out there and and show that
4:25
and prove it. So, nobody's going to do
4:27
it for us. We'll have to do it
4:28
ourselves. And that's what we're going
4:29
to do.
4:30
Front row on the right. No, it was Scott
4:33
plus seven. What was your message to the
4:35
team in the locker room after a game
4:36
like this?
4:38
Yeah, I just give my comments to the
4:40
team prior to myself and the team, but
4:41
obviously we have a lot of work to do
4:42
and we need to get through it and it's a
4:45
long short of it.
4:46
On the right here,
4:47
yeah, Aaron here today, they saw you on
4:49
the field before the game walking around
4:51
watching your team, watching TCU. It's
4:53
obviously a great environment. I'm
4:54
curious what you envisioned of a college
4:56
game, what this experience was like
4:58
coming out and participating in that.
5:00
That was a great environment tonight. I
5:02
mean, fans were awesome. Um, it's great
5:04
energy in the stadium. Um, you know, we
5:07
just didn't do enough to keep it going
5:08
and we got to play better for the energy
5:11
to sustain be sustainable.
5:13
Right next door, Brian Markson, the
5:15
athletic, you mentioned the fans, the
5:16
atmosphere was sort of what you want,
5:18
what you were hoping for. What would
5:19
sort of be your message to fans were
5:21
maybe disappointed by the result the way
5:23
it went as far as sticking with you
5:24
guys?
5:24
Yeah. No, what I've just been saying,
5:26
we're going back to work and, you know,
5:28
we're going to get better.
5:30
on the left.
5:31
Aiden Jensen, Tar Hills wire. Bill, so
5:34
don't alluding to the earlier question,
5:36
short week preparing for Charlotte. You
5:38
know, what are some of the top things or
5:40
the top things you want to see from your
5:42
guys in practice this week to prepare
5:44
for, you know, another opponent in such
5:47
a quick time frame?
5:49
Yeah. Again, the biggest thing is we
5:50
have to correct some of the mistakes
5:51
mistakes we made tonight. I mean, we
5:53
just can't we just can't perform well
5:55
doing some of the things that we did. We
5:56
we got to be better than that. And
5:58
obviously we got to deal with Charlotte
5:59
and the problems they present. But um we
6:01
had too many self-inflicted wounds that
6:03
that we have to eliminate before we can,
6:06
you know, worry about addressing our
6:07
opponents. So um we'll start with that
6:09
and then and then move to Charlotte.
6:12
Second row left.
6:15
Coach, obviously some injuries with the
6:18
offensive line to what extent. Do you
6:20
feel like that was an issue for you all
6:22
tonight?
6:24
Uh well I mean every injury is an
6:26
opportunity so you know somebody's out
6:28
then somebody else is in. They have an
6:29
opportunity and so we'll work with those
6:31
players and and work for them to get
6:33
better. I think we have enough players
6:34
that we just have to perform better as a
6:36
unit. You know coach better, play
6:38
better, work better on our fundamentals.
6:39
It's no there's no shortcut to it. We
6:41
just got to work harder and do a better
6:43
job. That's all there is to it.
6:45
Last one right here in the front row.
6:46
Clear sake on the quarterbacks. If Gio's
6:48
available Saturday, does you guys start
6:50
from your guys?
6:52
Uh, well, let's see where he's at. You
6:53
know, I don't know. It's a short week.
6:55
We'll see. I don't know what his
6:56
availability is right now, so I'm going
6:58
to speculate on that.
7:00
Thanks, guys.
7:01
All right. Great. Thank you.
7:04
Thanks.
