In this video I will show you how to create cut strings perpendicular to a super alignment. I will also show you how to drape the cut strings to a tin in the case when the cut strings aren't correct against the tin. What are cut strings in 12d? A cut string is a string that is perpendicular to a super alignment. When created it gets its elevations from the strings in the model containing all of the design strings. Why would you need to create cut strings? 1) Some survey field software like the Trimble SPS field software can set out to cut strings. Some people I have worked with prefer this method rather than setting out to strings and tins. 2) If you need to create a cross-section plan, you will need to create a cuts model of strings.
