3 Problems with Normal Way of CPA Study

So these are the three big problems with the normal way of CPA study

And once I point these out, it's going to seem so obvious that you won't be able to believe that you haven't thought of this before

And also, you'll see how they're interrelated, meaning that the first issue makes the second issue worse

And the first two issues together makes the third issue worse. So let's go to the tablet here

So by the way, this is going to be the short version of this

This will take me a minute or two to walk through, and I know I interrupted the video you're trying to watch

So let's walk through this. So the problems with the normal way of CPA study

See, I have mastery written here, and these are your lessons in your review course

So the normal way of studying is of course you just go in and you work through the lessons one by one One two three Let say you working on FAR And if you look at the AICPA blueprints it literally covers 200 topics

So you've got more or less 200 topics to cover when you're working on FAR

So for each lesson, you try to feel like you've mastered it or you have a really good understanding of the lesson

So the way that most people do that is they start by watching the video lecture, then they read the chapter, then they try to work through the practice problems

Now, the first issue is that takes a lot of time, right

You watch the video, it might take you two or three attempts, maybe you zone out, maybe you just watch the whole video, feel like you didn't understand it

So you go back, you watch the video more or less like twice or maybe even three times

then you read the chapter, then you come to the practice problems

So this whole process takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of time to really feel good about the content from a lesson

Now the second issue you will run into is that watching videos does not equal the ability to answer questions

And you've probably experienced this, that's what I just said. so you can watch the video two or three times, feel really good about what's in the video

then you get to the practice problems and realize, okay, apparently once it comes to a question

format, I really don't know how to do these questions. So at that point, you might go back to the

video for a fourth time or you might look through the chapter to try to find the key pieces of

information, but it's this struggle, and that's the point. So it takes all this time. And you go through

lesson by lesson one by one. And here's the third problem. The third problem is you get to the end of your study timeline to your final review

And you realize looking back, you've forgotten huge portions of all this stuff that you spent

so much time study. So you spent all this time going through all the content and you realize that

you forgotten huge portions of everything you studied And so forgetting all this stuff that you spent so much time on that equals time wasted

And if you fail the section, what else does that equal? That equals money that you have lost by paying for the exam, you know, just paying for your review course

Also, time is money. Just it's a big waste, right? Okay, so let's go back to the free training I mentioned

So instead of the process we just discussed, where you try to master each lesson up front

but then you don't look back at anything, with our approach, what you're going to learn on this

And you're not trying to master it the first time through. Because what you're going to do is you're also going to reserve a portion of your daily study

session, even though it's only two hours a day, you're going to save a portion of that to

So that as time goes on, as time goes on like this, you are getting better and better at all

the content instead of spending all this time and effort up front and then slowly forgetting

all those things that you learned and studied. So with this approach, you're planting the seeds is what we call it

Then you have a portion of your day that is constant re-review. And again, it's a simple process that's a lot easier

It takes less time than what you're trying to do now. But the big benefit is what I just explained

You're constantly reheating all the things you've previously studied. And then the general ideas behind studying to pass versus trying to learn it all

So this idea, and again, we will get into the details of what this means specifically as far as the study process

But what you're going to do on test day is you're going to get multiple choice questions and practice simulations

Now it sounds really obvious to say it like that, but when you realize that that's your key objective is being able to answer the questions that you're going to see on test day

you would study a lot differently than the way your review course presents information So we going to teach you how to use your review course much more effectively and much more efficiently to study to pass to be able to do what you need to do on test day to pass

And then the fourth thing is the backdrop for all of this information that we're going to present to you on the training is the six key ingredients to a winning study routine
