Diesel prices have surged more than 74 percent over the last 9 months. In California, prices are even higher, with the average reaching 7.98 dollars per gallon. The skyrocketing prices have sparked concerns about passive impacts on the broader economy, as fuel supply disruptions due to the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have pushed up transportation costs and prices for groceries and other essential goods. U.S. truckers and farmers are paying about 63 percent more to fill their semis and tractors than they did at the same time last year, showed AAA data.
