Various of Tesla cars Storyline U.S. electric vehicle maker Tesla on Thursday officially launched its autonomous Cybercab robotaxi in Austin, Texas, where the company is headquartered. First introduced in 2024, the gold-colored vehicle is a two-seat sedan without a steering wheel or pedals and relies entirely on self-driving software for near-full autonomy. It is equipped only with a large interactive touchscreen inside the vehicle and can carry two passengers. According to Tesla, the final target price for Cybercab is about 30,000 U.S. dollars and it is expected to travel 9.8 kilometers per kilowatt-hour. Tesla has provided paid rides in a designated area in Austin with 45 Cybercabs. Analysts said that the launch of this vehicle indicates that Tesla's autonomous driving service is transitioning from modified vehicles to custom-built autonomous vehicles.
