US, Los Angeles: Santa Clarita Bike Wildfire Threatens Homes Resident Reacts With Sound On Tape Part 2.

Los Angeles, United States - October 11, 2026 10/11/2026 01:07 pm GMT-0700 SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – As the fast-moving Bike Fire swept through Santa Clarita’s Sand Canyon neighborhood Sunday afternoon, one homeowner had just minutes to escape as flames raced toward his property. Dave Lyznick was alerted to the approaching fire through an emergency text group shared by approximately 25 neighboring homes. When he stepped outside, he saw flames towering roughly 30 feet into the air, with strong winds pushing smoke, ash and fire directly toward his house. Within approximately three minutes, the flames had reached his property. “It was just grab my computers, get in my truck, get out of here. There was no questioning,” Lyznick recalled. Convinced his home would be destroyed, Lyznick fled the property and contacted a friend at nearby Fire Camp 9, pleading for helicopters to respond. “I’m going to lose my property,” he remembered thinking as the flames approached. But when he returned, he discovered something he hadn’t expected. His home was still standing, untouched by flames. Firefighters had managed to protect the structure and were extinguishing remaining hot spots around the property. “It seemed absolutely impossible and inevitable that my house was going to be gone,” Lyznick said. “And so to walk up here and see the firefighters knocking down just the hot spots, and not one part of my home had any flame touch it, is just absolutely amazing.” Overwhelmed with gratitude, Lyznick credited firefighters and the resources deployed to protect his neighborhood. “Thank you, Jesus. Thank you to the firemen,” he said. The Bike Fire, which broke out shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday, rapidly grew to at least 230 acres, prompting mandatory evacuations across portions of Sand Canyon and surrounding neighborhoods. While firefighters continue battling the blaze, Lyznick’s experience illustrates just how quickly the fire threatened homes — and how narrow the margin was between escaping safely and losing everything.
