From Bolivian squirrel monkeys and capybaras to Humboldt penguins, giant Vietnamese magnolia snails and katydids, animals across the zoo took their turn on the scales and measuring equipment. The annual checks allow keepers to monitor changes in each animal’s weight and size, helping them assess whether diets and development remain appropriate for their age. The measurements are recorded in the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS), where the data can be shared with zoos around the world and used to support the long-term care and management of the animals.
