VARIOUS OF MEETING BETWEEN TURKISH PRESIDENT RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN AND PALESTINIAN PRESIDENT MAHMOUD ABBAS ALONGSIDE WITH DELEGATIONSANKARA, TÜRKİYE - AUG 12, 2026: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas with an official ceremony in the capital Ankara. Cavalry units escorted Abbas' official vehicle along the road in front of the presidential complex before accompanying it to the protocol entrance. Erdogan welcomed Abbas at the main entrance of the complex. After the two leaders took their places at the ceremony area, the national anthems of Türkiye and Palestine were played. The ceremony featured flags and soldiers representing the 16 Turkic states throughout history, while a 21-gun salute was fired. Abbas greeted the Presidential Guard Regiment's ceremonial unit by saying "Merhaba asker" (Hello, soldier). The two leaders then introduced their respective delegations. Erdogan and Abbas posed for photographs with the Turkish and Palestinian flags behind them before holding a bilateral meeting. Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) chief Ibrahim Kalin, Türkiye's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, president’s foreign policy and security adviser Akif Cagatay Kilic, and Ankara Governor Yakup Canbolat also attended the ceremony.
