The gathering, titled “Harry Potter: Letters from Azkaban,” marked the latest in a series of similar themed protests that began in 2020. Organizers encouraged participants to wear wizard costumes, carry wands and join symbolic activities inspired by the Harry Potter series. The rally program included messages from imprisoned activists, a symbolic Patronus spell-themed action, a letter-writing campaign for detainees and a signature drive supporting legal and constitutional changes. Organizers also voiced opposition to a constitutional amendment proposal backed by the governing Bhumjaithai Party, arguing that it would allow unelected senators to maintain influence over the constitution-drafting process. The event also promoted support for the “People’s Constitution” campaign and efforts to repeal what organizers described as the legacy of the Oct. 6 coup.
