One of the largest public viewing events was held at the historic Yedikule Fortress, where Fatih Municipality installed giant screens for supporters to follow the match together. Fans arriving at the venue were given red T-shirts and Turkish flags, while many wore national team jerseys and gathered in front of the screens carrying red-and-white flags. Municipalities also provided refreshments including soup, tea and simit for spectators waiting for kickoff. Some supporters painted their faces in the colors of the Turkish flag as World Cup excitement spread through the city.
