Al Hasakah, Syria - August 27, 2026 Tensions were reported in Mahlouja village, in the Jabal Abdul Aziz area of Hasakah countryside in Syria, after residents protested against the operation of oil burners that they say had caused breathing problems and cases of suffocation. Local reports said that individuals linked to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who reportedly operate the burners, opened fire toward the protesters.
