Philippines: Floodwaters Could Not Stop This Bride From Walking Down The Aisle.

Central Luzon, Philippines - September 01, 2026 Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico went ahead with their wedding on 1 September 2026 despite murky floodwater covering the floor of St. John the Baptist Parish. The couple, both in their 30s, held an abbreviated late-morning ceremony after the parish advised them to postpone because of the floodwater. They chose to proceed. Video shows the bride in a white gown and veil wading toward the altar, with her dress trailing through the water. Guests, photographers and members of the wedding party stood or knelt in the flooded church. The bride’s gown train was shortened, while portable speakers were used after the power went out. Fewer than 15 people attended. The couple arrived by elevated rickshaw before wading into the church. Near the front of the aisle, the bride was embraced in the water as phones recorded the moment. Photographer Mikko Rey Alfonso said the church had been partially underwater for nearly a month amid heavier-than-usual monsoon rains in the northern Philippines. On-screen text in the video reads, “Tuloy ang Kasal!” meaning “The wedding goes on!” The caption said the ceremony showed the couple honoring their promise of matrimony “for better or for worse.” National disaster authorities linked landslides and flash floods during the same season to 34 deaths and more than 8.3 million people affected.
