TCG ISIN BEING SEEN SCRIPT Anadolu captured images aboard the TCG Alemdar, a Turkish submarine rescue vessel, of ongoing search and rescue operations for 16 people missing after the high-speed passenger ship Filo Jet sank off Girne (Kyrenia) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), as well as efforts to recover the vessel's black box. Search and rescue operations are continuing with nine vessels and 11 aircraft deployed in the area. Türkiye's TCG Isin rescue and salvage vessel and the TCG Alemdar submarine rescue ship are leading the operation. Rescue teams are working around the clock, including overnight, to locate the missing people. Robotic equipment lowered 554 meters (1,818 feet) from the TCG Alemdar is being used to search for the missing people and conduct operations on the wreck. - TCG Isin and TCG Alemdar The TCG Isin's robotic system initially scanned the area where the vessel sank to identify possible entry points into the wreck. The vessel has a crew of 60 personnel, including 15 highly specialized first-class divers who took part in the operation. Robotic dives were also conducted using a remotely operated underwater vehicle, or ROV, capable of securely grasping and bringing missing objects and wreckage to the surface. The ROV can descend to depths of up to 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) and recover loads weighing as much as 135 kilograms (298 pounds). Equipped with thermal cameras, it was also used for imaging operations. A Dynamic Positioning System enabled the TCG Isin to safely maintain its position in difficult sea conditions, supporting the secure execution of underwater operations. The vessel can remain stationary by anchoring at four points at depths of up to 600 meters (1,969 feet). Its side-scan sonar system was used to locate objects at depths of up to 1,000 meters (3,281 feet), while its multibeam echosounder system, with an operating depth of 3,000 meters (9,843 feet), provided detailed scans of the seabed. The TCG Alemdar was positioned in the area on Wednesday. Operations have begun to recover the bodies of the missing people from the wreck, located at a depth of 554 meters (1,818 feet), using robots controlled from the vessel. The 4,200-ton submarine operations vessel is equipped with an ambulance helicopter platform. It continues to support the operation through its Dynamic Positioning System and sonar systems, which enable it to perform its primary mission functions. - Filo jet sank off Girne The Filo Jet, a high-speed passenger vessel operating between Girne Port in TRNC, and Tasucu Port in Mersin, Türkiye, departed Girne around noon on Sunday, Aug. 30. Shortly after leaving port, the vessel began taking on water through its bow and sank as it attempted to return to Girne Port. After it sank, Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Unal Ustel said authorities recovered the bodies of 12 people and that search efforts were underway for 16 others. Ustel also said the wreck had been located at a depth of 554 meters (1,818 feet) off the coast of Girne.
