One person was initially pulled out alive from the tunnel, raising fresh hopes that others trapped underground could also survive. The latest reports say two people have now been rescued alive from the tunnel. Rescue teams have also reported indications that more people may still be trapped inside. The workers became trapped after devastating flash floods and debris swept through the region on August 26, damaging hydropower infrastructure and blocking tunnel entrances. At the Trishuli-3A project, rescuers have been battling tonnes of mud, rocks and debris while using heavy machinery and drilling equipment to open a path into the tunnel. Earlier, rescue teams established two-way communication with people believed to be trapped inside, further raising hopes of finding survivors. Officials and rescuers believe some workers could have survived in enclosed sections or air pockets inside the underground complex. The rescue operation remains ongoing, with teams continuing to clear debris and search deeper inside the tunnel.
