Myanmar (Burma) - June 01, 2026 At least 55 people, including children, were killed and around 70 others injured following a massive explosion on Sunday at a gelignite explosives warehouse in Kaungtup village, Namhkam Township in northeastern Myanmar, according to reports. The blast reportedly occurred at a facility controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), which was being used to store explosives intended for mining and quarrying activities. The explosion caused widespread destruction, damaging more than 100 homes in the surrounding area. Rescue operations are ongoing, and authorities warned that the death toll could still rise as search efforts continue.
