Residents flocked to the city center to shop as part of preparations for the Muslim holiday, while a spiritual and religious atmosphere was felt across the city. Shops and market stalls saw increased activity in various areas, from food products to holiday shopping. Sweets were also distributed after prayers at mosques and prayer rooms as the Eid atmosphere filled the city. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Muslims mark the occasion with prayer, feasting, and acts of charity.
