CIVIL DEFENSE WORKER ARRIVING AT HOSPITAL (2 SHOTS)SOUTHERN LEBANON - MAY 11: A Lebanese civil defense worker recorded the moment an Israeli strike hit a rescue operation in southern Lebanon on Monday, May 11, after emergency teams arrived at a building damaged in an earlier Israeli attack in the town of Toul, according to Lebanon’s state news agency NNA. The footage showed civil defense crews traveling toward the targeted area before entering a damaged building to search for possible survivors beneath the rubble. Moments later, an explosion was heard as the rescuer moved through the debris, causing the video to cut to black. NNA reported that two civil defense workers were injured after Israeli forces carried out a second strike targeting rescue teams operating in the area following the initial attack. The incident came despite an extended temporary ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon that took effect in April. Lebanese authorities have reported continued Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon since the truce began, while Israel says it continues operations against Hezbollah positions. The Israeli army continues to conduct daily strikes in Lebanon and exchange fire with Hezbollah despite a ceasefire in place since April 17, which was later extended to mid-May. Since March 2, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have killed 2,846 people, injured 8,693 and displaced more than 1 million, according to the latest official figures. The escalation comes as the United States prepares to host peace talks between the two countries in Washington on May 14–15.
