A landslide has obstructed a road in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting authorities to issue a traffic advisory. Officials have deployed heavy machinery at the site. Work is underway to remove debris and restore normal movement along the affected route. The incident took place on the Doda-Kishtwar road in northern India's Jammu and Kashmir on May 2. Visuals show that large rocks were seen falling onto the road due to a landslide. Heavy machinery is being used to clear the road. According to reports, a major landslide blocked the Doda-Kishtwar road in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, disrupting traffic movement in the Doda district. The incident occurred near Gatsoo, close to Pul Doda, cutting off a key route that connects Doda with Kishtwar. Authorities issued a traffic advisory urging commuters to avoid the stretch until clearance work is completed. According to updates shared by the traffic police, the landslide took place early in the morning and led to a complete blockage of the road. Officials stated that teams equipped with machinery were deployed immediately to begin restoration work. However, they indicated that clearing the debris would require time due to the scale of the obstruction. Travelers have been advised to postpone journeys on this route until normal movement resumes. Ground teams have been working continuously to remove debris and large boulders from the affected stretch. Visuals from the location show heavy equipment being used to clear the roadway and restore connectivity. Despite the severity of the landslide, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and further updates are expected. In another incident reported from the Bantalab area in Jammu, a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed, resulting in the loss of three labourers. Rescue teams responded quickly and managed to pull out one survivor from the debris. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims. He confirmed that four individuals were trapped during the collapse, out of which three lost their lives while one survived. He also stated that strict administrative action has been taken against those found responsible. Measures include suspension of two officials, disciplinary action against another, blacklisting of the contractor, and initiation of an inquiry to determine accountability.
