The video, published by Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation, captured the exact moment of the strike and its chaotic immediate aftermath inside airport. Kuwaiti officials said the attack caused extensive material damage to the passenger terminal and other vital infrastructure. Commercial flight operations were temporarily suspended and arriving planes diverted, and partially resumed following initial safety and damage assessments. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted military sites hosting US forces in Kuwait in response to US strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island. The IRGC later denied targeting Kuwait International Airport, saying the damage to the passenger terminal was caused by a malfunctioning US-made Patriot missile system after an attempted interception. Kuwait rejected the explanation and described the attacks as a violation of international law, saying the country retained the right to take appropriate measures in response. The incident came amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, following some of the most intense exchanges between the two sides since a ceasefire took effect in April. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that the attacks targeted US bases in Kuwait in retaliation for a US strike on Qeshm Island in southern Iran early Wednesday.
