Dozens of individuals with albinism gathered to advocate for social inclusion and equal rights, drawing attention to the systemic discrimination, social exclusion and violent attacks that the community frequently faces across Africa. As part of the empowerment campaign, the event featured a fashion runway show alongside free medical checkups and skin cancer screenings for participants. The United Nations spearheads this annual global awareness initiative to dismantle deep-seated prejudices surrounding the genetic condition, safeguard fundamental human rights and eliminate violence against people with albinism.
