MAN WAVING ITALIAN FLAG NEAR CHIMNEYSANTA MARIA MAGGIORE, ITALY - SEPTEMBER 6: The 43rd International Chimney Sweep Gathering was held in Santa Maria Maggiore, Italy, on Sunday, Sept. 6, bringing together chimney sweeps in traditional clothing. The annual event in the Vigezzo Valley drew hundreds of participants from Italy and abroad. Chimney sweeps attended the gathering in their traditional outfits as part of efforts to keep alive the history and traditions of the centuries-old profession. During the event, old stories were brought to life through historical reenactments of the traditional profession, along with songs, music, dancing, and opportunities to meet others and share an interest in its history and traditions.
