Sacrificial animal sellers took their places at markets established by the municipality across the Iranian capital, where sheep and other small livestock were offered for sale. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Muslims mark the occasion with prayer, feasting, and acts of charity.
