Capitol building; traffic Storyline Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) said Friday that its forces had launched fresh retaliatory strikes against U.S. bases and assets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan. In statements carried by its official news outlet Sepah News, the IRGC said the attacks were carried out in response to what it described as U.S. "crimes" against Iran. The IRGC said its aerospace forces had carried out a "crushing" attack on Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, causing significant damage to a number of U.S. fighter aircraft. It added that barracks housing U.S. forces at the base had also been struck, causing casualties among U.S. personnel. According to the IRGC, its forces also carried out "surprise" operations against U.S. military positions in Erbil, the capital of Iraq's Kurdistan region, destroying a Patriot air defense system and an espionage balloon, and hitting the U.S. troop accommodation facilities. In addition, the IRGC further claimed to have demolished three U.S. ammunition and equipment depots at the Al-Adiri Camp in Kuwait, and struck the watchtower of the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, causing significant damage. The IRGC also warned that people in the Middle East should immediately stay away from locations where U.S. military personnel are living and operating to ensure their safety. The IRGC said that, out of fear of Iranian strikes, many U.S. soldiers in the region have left their military bases and moved into buildings in some cities to command military operations and conduct covert activities. The IRGC added that residents of Middle Eastern countries hosting U.S. forces should keep at least 500 meters away from these secret living and operating sites to avoid being caught in any fallout from strikes. According to the latest figures released by Iran's Health Ministry, as of 11:00 local time on Friday, at least 59 people have been killed and 666 others wounded in U.S. strikes against Iran since June 27. Ali Abdollahi, chief commander of Iran's main military command, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said that Iran has adopted as a guiding principle for its battlefield operations that for every Iranian citizen killed, one U.S. military personnel will be struck, and that this will be implemented effective immediately. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that any actions that participate in or assist strikes against Iran will bear corresponding international responsibility. He said the military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran violate international law, and that Iran has the right to exercise self-defense under international law.
