Honduras: Former Honduran president Hernandez appears in court over corruption case.

VARIOUS OF PRO-HERNANDEZ SUPPORTERS RALLYING OUTSIDE COURTHOUSETEGUCIALPA, HONDURAS - AUG. 12, 2026: Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was the president of Honduras from 2014 to 2022, appeared at an initial hearing in Tegucigalpa on Wednesday, Aug. 12, over allegations of corruption during his time in office. Hernandez, commonly known as JOH, was sentenced in New York in 2024 to 45 years in prison on drug trafficking charges after US prosecutors accused him of helping move hundreds of tons of cocaine into the United States. He was later extradited and imprisoned in a maximum-security federal prison in the US state of Virginia on drug trafficking charges. But he was pardoned and released by President Donald Trump last December as Honduras was undergoing presidential elections marked by serious allegations of electoral fraud against the National Party and its candidate, Nasry Asfura, who was declared president Dec. 24. Hernandez is being financed by Israel to return to the presidency in 2030 with the sole purpose of turning Honduras into a US military and technological outpost, according to Canal Red’s exclusive report.
